I woke this morning with terrible pain down in my neck & shoulder. Feels like a pinched nerve... 800mg of ibuprofen I still can barely move.
I've gone to a chiropractor in the past but can't get in on short notice. There's a good holistic massage therapist though...
Has anyone gotten relief by having massage? It won't "trigger" anything bad with my lyme, will it?

Yes, I believe you can herx from a massage, it's happened to me, and I heard Dr. B mention it in a DVD, but,
I know the neck muscle pain you speak of, and I love a massage.
Sometimes it is really necessary for me to get that relief.
Drink lots of water afterwards and just be aware-JMO.

A passive type exercise you can try, that really helps me a lot, is lying on your back with your knees and feet up on a chair. Everything at right angles. Do this for at least 20 minutes or up to an hour, can even nap in this position. It truly relaxes you and pulls muscles and ligaments back into their correct position. (I learned this from Pete Egoscue's book, Pain Free)

I'm currently dealing with this as well. Horrible.
My local doc just tried to prescribe a steroid medication. I told the nurse I can't take that. She called back and said that I can. Sigh.
I've heard that the exercise that sillia describes above can be very effective. I'm going to try it as well.
I hope you find relief for the pain you're dealing with. Let us know how it goes.

Go for the massage!!! I would not go to a chiro with a sharp pain down my neck and shoulder.
I've actually given up on chiropractic. (again)
Tell the massage therapist to go easy on you.

I actually booked a massage for tomorrow-
I clip all the local coupons for them, and tell family I want a gift certificate for a massage when I'm asked what I want for holiday gift.
