For those of you who have been on levaquin...do you believe this is a herx: I'm building up to 5 mg a day, on 250 now and four days in have weakness, soreness, aching, nauseous, stomach gurgling, yeast symptoms, just overall crappy feeling! Also, very down in the dumps and terrible sleep with bad dreams. Sound familiar? Oh, also a metallic taste in mouth. UGH. Also, on flagyl, 250 3xday but I've been steady on that for a few weeks. Thanks for any input.

I am too scared to watch the video!
I have been on Levaquin 500 mg for 6 weeks now with no real problems. I was on Rifampin 6 months before, so my herx was not too bad.
Your symptoms do sound like a herx.

That was terrifying!
When I took it in the past, I felt like I had the flu. My LLMD used that reaction to deduce that I have Bart.
I'm on Septra now for Bart. So, maybe that's an option for you?
I am getting used to Septra, so I thought the next move would be Levaquin...now I don't know.

I took levoquin for coinfections. From about the 3 or 4th dose, I felt like something was wrong.
I had burning in my shins, pain in the sole of my feet, a feeling of total weakness in my legs--as if I didn't have the strength to even walk.
I stopped taking it. Somehow, it didn't feel okay for me to take another dose.
My LLMD prescribed rifampin. Not the same side effects at all, and hopefully it's effectively targeting the coinfections.

Good for you for listening to yourself, Andie333.
I had to quit taking Levaquin after 2 days due to tendinitis and still have tendon problems from it.
I didn't watch the video but do know there's a facebook page titled "Fluoroquinolone Antibiotic Toxicity (Cipro, Levaquin, Avelox, Floxin)" -and I've been in contact with someone whose been chronically disabled from Levaquin and can't even brush her own teeth from it and she's now an activist.
I have to refuse all the drugs in this "class". Not worth the risk. I am just one of those people who will get the side effect, no matter what...
Also, just read that this drug can also cause suicidal thoughts.

Hi, Girl...question I ahven't been able to answer: is rifampin in that same category with the others or is it a different abx strain?
anyone?

I believe it is different, but check with your pharmacist to make sure.

Hmmm...don't know for sure what to do here. I don't know if it's tendon pain in my inside, bottom of my feet or not, but one thing I'm always thankful for is the ability to walk in the midst of this hellish disease. I don't want to risk losing that too. I think my intuition is telling me not to take it.

As a woman, I'm always glad when I listen to my intuition. Here is the label if you'd like to read more:
