I just started Levaquin 3 days ago and am already feeling pain in the achilles tendon area with pain radiating up to the knee.
It is also very tender to just a gentle touch. I am also feeling new pain in my hips and elbow.
Should I stop Levaquin until I get in to see my LLMD? I think my body is telling me to be very cautious with this drug.

I had the Achilles pain after 5 days. My LLMD told me to stop it. Bummer.

There is a class action lawsuit for Levaquin right now. That drug and other quinolines can cause tendon rupture, permanent tendon and neurological damage. There's actually a facebook group of activist or people who got injured from the drug. They call it being "floxed" I believe. Good call on stopping the levaquin, there's also avelox, and a number of other drugs in that same class.

I also had to stop levaquin. It started with an achy knee and then the tendons in my hands and feet started to hurt. I'm frustrated because now while waiting for my dr. to get back with me I've been off abx and am worried I'll backslide. Errr...hate this disease.

Don't take any chances. I waited too long to stop avelox, hoping the tendon trouble wasn't from the drug. This was before it was widely known.

Stop it immediately. I got "floxed" with my achilles tendons and the pain did not go away when I stopped the Levaquin. It lasted for months, I could hardly walk. Then it recurred every couple months, for a couple years, and was awful. It still recurs to a lesser degree. I thought I would stop it and it would just go away. Not so.

I took Levaquin for 3 days, on Wednesday for the last time. I still feel crummy and in lots of pain.
My foot, achilles, knee, hips, back, elbow, hands, are all still hurting. Not to mention the headache that is always with me.
Is there anything to do to ease the pain from this drug?

Took it for several days for a kidney infection.
It cured the kidney infection, but I ended up with plantar fasciitis and had to wear 'the boot' for months.
I would stop it and call the doctor.
pooldog, magnesium helped me more than anything.

I don't remember, maybe start slow and increase the dose until you get loose stools.
Maybe some other folks will come along and give some advice on dosage.

Yes, as much magnesium as you can tolerate.
Dr. B's recommendation for levaquin and other quinolones is to saturate yourself with magnesium before starting it, and then keep the level high to prevent this.
But no way am I advocating going back on it!! I can't tolerate levaquin or other quinolones even at teeny doses. I got bad
tendonitiis twice, once from 5 days or so of Factive, and once from a short time on a miniscule dose of levaquin. Never again.
Take it VERY easy in terms of any movements/stretching that might stress your achilles---or any other tendon for that matter.
