I wanted to try out chlorella and see how it works for heavy metal detox
I have a stubborn yeast issue in my gut and I think it is stubborn because Im not resolving heavy metals
I didnt want to spend alot of money on chlorella because I was just trying it out
So I went to WHOLE FOODS and bought their version of broken cell wall Chlorella tablets. 500 mg each
i read you want to take quite alot of it in order to see results. so yesterday i took about 10 grams. and then today I took 15 tablets twice today
i felt fine until now. I feel achey, sore, tired. I feel like im herxing
Is this normal. abnormal? i have no stomach pain or anything.
Ive been reading on here how some chlorella can be contaminated with mercury/metals
Is this what this reaction is? or is it a detox reaction? Does chlorella cause detox reactions?
Please help thanks!

I don't know much about metals, but it sounds like you might be herxing toxins as well. I take chlorella, but no where near that amt. There is the fukashima issue too. I think Gigi would know the answer to this question. She has posted some great stuff about binders (maybe try another one).

Lymegal, Chlorella does not detox intracellularly. It only clears some of the extracellular space. And if you feel bad now, you probably mobilized more toxin than you were able to mop up with the amount of chlorella you took.
It takes a lot of binders to avoid getting into trouble. Garden of Life Detox Fiber is good. Stay away from psyllium. I really love the www.detoxmetal.com and the HMD product. Most reasonable and gentle.
Other binders you can try: Chitosan, Apple pectin, Beta Sitosterol.
My favorite ones is Diatomaceous Earth.
Please check some of my recent posts with many links for all of these.
Hope you can find your way through these. The more you know before getting into this, the better. If I can help, please ask.
Take care.

- I think the dose was just way too high to start.
You can contact the manager of the wellness department at the Whole Foods where you bought this but my guess it that they've done their homework and it's a good product -- of course, do have a discussion with them if you have questions.
You say that you started right off the bat with: "about 10 grams. and then today I took 15 tablets twice today" (end quote)
Yes, absolutely, that could cause a reaction.
It's best to begin with just ONE capsule a day for several days and then increase by just one more a day for several days, etc.
If you get a reaction, then just back down again. This has worked well for me after going too high, too soon. Just back back down.
Always, though, with ANY supplement, start slow and low, one at a time. It's hard when we want to get where we should have been a log time ago to ramp up too fast but please resist that urge.
