For the last couple of weeks I've been very uncomfortable. I get cold, so I bundle up. A few minutes later, I break out in a sweat, so I pull off a layer or two, then, a few minutes after that, I'm shivering. This is going on all the time! I've tried using lighter blankets at night, but I can't get warm unless I pull the comforter on, too. I'll fall asleep, only to wake up soaked in sweat. I'll throw off the comforter, but then I get chilled because the cool air hits the sweat on my skin. No matter what I try, I can't seem to get to a comfortable temperature.
I had this problem right before the Lyme hit. We thought it was Thyroid, but my Thyroid levels are under control. I've tried Alka Seltzer Gold, which has helped in the past, but it's not working now. Any ideas what's going on and how to stop it?
Thanks!

Hot flashes due to babs or protomyxzoa, plus the change in weather.

Needing, I've been the same way but not as extreme. I think it the weather with still needing AC in evening and night for air flow and then turning on the heat to take chill from home in morning.
i believe our bodies have a much harder time adapting to weather and change than healthy people.
One minute I'm throwing a blanket on and then an hour later I'm throwing it off and overheated. I've always thought my personal thermostat didn't work. Are you hypothyroid? I am, but blood work says I'm taking the right dose?????

Needing, I couldn't have described it any better. The only things missing from your story for me is the getting up to change wet clothes and sleeping on top of towels. I go through all the other stuff you mention, and it makes for many miserable nights.
I tested negative for babesia, and I don't think I got tested for the protomyxzoa. I thought maybe these temperature swings and sleeping sweats are from Bart. These symptoms weren't this bad until I started rifampin two months ago.
I don't have any ideas, but I am going through the same thing. I haven't found any relief for the drenching sweats and random temp changes.

I have this. Went away after high dose ivermectin, but, it's coming back.
My prominent LLMD says maybe babesia, mamye bart or some unknown critter. Either way, it's a co-infection and we don't yet know how to keep it away.

This sounds like Babs to me. Are you treating it?

SHOOT Y'all, maybe i DO need to test again for Babs when i get my labs. I have this same problem. I must say, my honey is very patient about it, even though he's a thermostat watcher (pinching pennies) He doesn't know what's going on with me either, but this hot/cold thing. I get it "Needing" I think we all "get it".

I call this the hot/cold game. Somedays it is all I get done.

Man this is me.' under covers out of covers. In nightgown out of nightgown. under fan then turning it off. Up and Down all night cause I can't sleep. Toss and turn.' plump Up pillow then flatten pillow.' get drink of water. Feet burn so put lotion on. Nose is dry so use saline.
This goes on all night. Might get 2-3''hours at the very most.
Then he complains and I want to absolutely kill him!!

My guess is that most of you have babesia or some other blood borne parasite.
Debilyn -- There is a recent journal article that says rifampin may help treat babesia. Most LLMD's think that med works on babs and bart and lyme all. If the problem became worse after starting that med I think that is a pretty good indicator that a coinfection is to blame.

That was a whopping "Hello, I'm your current body snatcher" from Babesia (duncani) to me right b/f I was lab Dx'd w/it.

Ditto here with the sweats and chills. What exactly is Alka Selzer Gold supposed to do for Lyme?

Thanks, Bea, for the info. I will search for the article. I had not heard that before.

Alka Seltzer Gold can help with herxing. According to my doctor, it can be taken two to three times a day when herxing but only for one to two days.

This is still of symptom of mine, but it used to be worse before treating babesia microti. I'm still having these symptoms but not nearly as often or as intense.
I've been treating babesia microti since Sept 2010.
One herb my doctor (a well know LLMD) put me on that really reduced the drenching sweats/chills episode was criptolepsis, but the problem is everytime my doctor takes me off of it even for a little while the drenching sweats/chills return.
