I am currently being treated with IV rocephin, with no other antibiotics, under the supervision of a well-respected LLMD. I got a second opinion from another well-respected LLMD, and he has suggested taking two or three additional antibiotics concurrently (an intracelluluar antibiotic, another one to deal with cyst forms, and yet another to address a possible co-infection.) After a couple months of fairly minimal improvement, he feels that results might be obtained faster if a more aggressive approach is pursued.
I have heard that the pros and cons of each approach are as follows: one side feels that taking multiple antibiotics at the same time might be too much for the liver and kidneys, and Rocephin is already tough enough on the liver. The other side feels that these concerns can be dealt with through frequent blood tests and careful selection of the antibiotics; and the bigger danger is being on IV too long with an overly conservative therapy, which can compound the risk of IV-related problems (e.g., infection).
I would appreciate hearing about peoples' experiences with one of these two approaches to therapy. Thank you!

I would FOR SURE take a cyst buster like flagyl or tinidazole with the Rocephin. Otherwise, you will be creating cysts and not killing them. Then when you get off the Roc, they will come after you with a vengeance.
If you don't do this, you will "relapse."

I started IV Rocephin last December after a brief hiatus from all ABXs due to elevated liver enzymes. We added Zith right away.
After three weeks we added Rifampin. When Bart returned a month later we droppped Rifampin and re-started Mepron.
Another month past then we added Batrim DS.
This week we started TindaMax pulsed one day a week, then will increase as I adjust.
So yes, take a mix of things that work together, as much as you can handle. But add them in slowly to guage your reaction.
You are most likely getting a CBC and CMP bloodwork every other week due to the IV.
Make sure you get a copy sent to your home so you can track any changes.
