Hey all,

Just got back from appointment with my LLMD and he's agreed to start me on Ivermectin. My Lyme doc is just starting to "dip his toes" so to speak into FL1953 and Ivermectin as a treatment option - I will actually be his very first patient to do ivermectin!

I will be adding the Ivermectin to Malarone a d Zithromax which I've been on for several months now.

Here's my question - I didn't look at my prescription until I left and it's written out for 25 mg. I'm not real keen to start at 25 mg, plus I thought it only came in 3, 6 or 12 mg dose? Is there a 25 mg dose? If so, couldn't I get the pharmacy to fill it in smaller dosages?

Anything else I should do, not do or look out for? I've read all there is to read about Ivermectin on this board and everybody's experiences seem to be different...some people never herx and just feel better, some people herx mildly and some people are knocked flat. I'm ready for whatever!! [Smile]

Open the bottle- are there tiny pills in there?

JMO, but I would not start out that high of dose at 1 time-
the script may have been written that way for more pills.

FWIW, I started at 9 mg.

Thanks surprise - I haven't actually gotten the script filled yet, I just saw that it was written out for 25 mg. I thought they only came in three, six or twelve milligrams?

You can try starting out with one pill, but if you herx badly, back off to 1/4 pill every other day.

My daughter experienced old symptoms coming back in the order they appeared when she first started getting ill.

It is like peeling back another layer of the onion.

It took one year for my daughter to work up to four 12mg pills daily.

If you have the FL1953, you will have a BIG reaction.

Did your doctor tell you to take it everyday or to pulse it? Some doctors are giving a very high dose for a couple of weeks or pulsed once a week, but that is a very high dose to take every day. To take daily, most people start low and work up to their body weight dosing .2mg per kilo of body weight. A kilo is 2.2 pounds so if you weight 132, then you would take 12 mg.

You are right about the strengths it comes in so it would have to be compounded to get it that high. The math does not add up to take it in multiple pills (such as 4 tablets of 6 mg = 24mg, not 25 mg). If your doctor figured this dose out according to your weight, then you would have to be 275 pounds.

Sometimes we have to research and work these things out for ourselves. There are a lot of ways ivermectin is dosed but kelmo's daughter sees Dr. F so her recommendation is the one he is using.

I used it daily for about two months and then cut back because of side effects. By that time I was close to symptom free. When I first took it I had an increase in body pain but it didn't last long. It was all up hill after that first herx.

PS, don't forget the diet. It is critical.

Thank you guys so much! It turns out the nurse (she's new) wrote the script out wrong - the pharmacy called and got it straightened out with my doc. He prescribed 12 mg to be taken every other day for 30 days and then we'll reevaluate at my next appointment. I'll let you guys know how it goes!
