Hubby is starting this tomorrow. And LLMD told him to stop the Mepron and Zithromax. I didn't get a chance to talk to her. I know about the tendonitis possibility. Whats the interaction with Mepron, Zith and Levaquin. Anyone know anything?

You aren't supposed to take Macrolide (Zith, Biaxin) antibiotics with fluoroquinolone antibiotics, as combined they can cause an interruption in what's called the QT interval - basically it can disrupt the normal rhythm of the heart and cause sudden death (very rare, but who wants to take the chance?!) And you aren't supposed to take antimalarials without a Macrolide or resistance can develop, so it sounds like you LLMD is pulling both (smart!) to start treatment with Levaquin. Sounds like she knows what she's doing and that you're in good hands. Hope that helps!!

I can't sit up and talk long (been hospitalized for complications of viral illness & vertigo) but since you seem so worried, I'll chime in here.

IV Levaquin has been my MOST helpful antibiotic. Works on both Lyme and bartonella symptoms, as well as any other intracellular infections.

Much more powerful than the tablets in my experience. But then again I have a horrible GI tract so maybe someone normal would have better effects with the oral version.

This is one med that I can't/ don't want to give up until I am fully well.

Good luck to you. Sounds like you have an excellent and caring doctor.

One more thing, you can take malarone with Levaquin to treat babesia. That's what I do.
