If you send a private message to someone PLEASE make sure your mailbox is empty!! It is VERY frustrating to answer a pm especially if you've taken the time to send a detailed reply, only to find the recipients mailbox to be full.
Thanks,
Gael

I know Gael, it's happened to me and I was very frustrated. I vowed not to let mine get cluttered, but---I messed up.
Don't blame you for not writing it all over again.
I've started copying and pasting to Word just in case and sending later.
But you must have so many to respond to that it's not practical to do for you.

Another thought change the site settings to allow more emails. or just set it up to erase the oldest when a new one comes in.
text messages do not take up much space at all on the server

Good ideas Paul, Thanks for the input.

Please don't auto-erase without prompting, or give us the option to not auto-erase! Some of us want to save important info in PM's...

How do you know when its getting full?
Posted by glm1111 (Member # 16556) on :
Go to my profile at the top bar of this page and click on it. It will show you your messages. I think the capacity that it holds is 60. Check the ones that you don't want and go to the bottom of the page and hit delete.

- Yes, because it's not known to the sender UNTIL AFTER they've composed a message and actually hit the "send" button that the recepient's box is full.
Sometimes, it will block at less than 60.
I don't know if that might include some of the multiple conversations / back & forth that may be under one message or not - but it might be good to consider keeping it a bit less than 60 -- or transferring out the ones that have multiple messages within one. -

What we need is a meter to let us know when it is close to full. Other message boards have this!

how can you save the ones you want to keep, EASILY????? Posted by glm1111 (Member # 16556) on :
nonna,
VERY EASY. If you want to save any messages, just don't put a check there and it won't be deleted.

- That would help. I just wish we were actually allowed 60 messages. Never works out that way.

tutu,
Could we put a sticky up at the top to remind everyone to clean out their mailboxes once a month?
Just thinking (which by the way is a miracle after years of brain fog)

We have too many stickies. Once a month won't even help. Mine can be "clear" one minute and full 5 minutes later. I keep a lot of LLMD lists in my PM box.

I have thought of sending a reply in the form of a test message to see if the recipients mailbox is full or not before I send a detailed response. It would also serve as a reminder to empty their mailbox.
I think I will do that from now on.

I've actually started to save whole web pages of chats with those I deemed important information wise & then delete them off my profile. I named the files the same name of the person chatting with.
Another thing that can be done is create a document file & copy & past the chats into the document. This also makes it easier to search for key words when hunting for info.

I got burned twice this evening!!
I know, Lymedin... It's just so much easier to use the PM box.
