A LLMD diagnosed me with Lyme disease, but I cannot afford treatment. I believe I have had Lyme for 16 years.

My bloodwork over the last several years has shown a high RDW, but with a normal MCV and normal B12 I'm not sure what it means. Some kind of anemia, I think?

Can anyone shed some light on this for me or point me in the right direction to do some of my own research? I'm worried that I'm missing something important/serious.

I have a follow up appointment with my PCP next week to go over all of my bloodwork and would like to be able to go in with some purpose. I can't depend on this PCP to know how to help me. Here is the lab work:

Name Value Reference Range
WHITE BLOOD CELL COUNT 6.5 (3.8-10.8 Thousand/uL)

RED BLOOD CELL COUNT 4.63 (3.80-5.10 Million/uL)

HEMOGLOBIN 13.4 (11.7-15.5 g/dL)

HEMATOCRIT 40.9 (35.0-45.0 %)

MCV 88.3 (80.0-100.0 fL)

MCH 28.8 (27.0-33.0 pg)

MCHC 32.6 (32.0-36.0 g/dL)

RDW 16.6 (11.0-15.0 %)

PLATELET COUNT 247 (140-400 Thousand/uL)

MPV 9.8 (7.5-11.5 fL)

ABSOLUTE NEUTROPHILS 4225 (1500-7800 cells/uL)

ABSOLUTE LYMPHOCYTES 1664 (850-3900 cells/uL)

ABSOLUTE MONOCYTES 475 (200-950 cells/uL)

ABSOLUTE EOSINOPHILS 117 (15-500 cells/uL)

ABSOLUTE BASOPHILS 20 (0-200 cells/uL)

NEUTROPHILS 65.0 %

LYMPHOCYTES 25.6 %

MONOCYTES 7.3 %

EOSINOPHILS 1.8 %

BASOPHILS 0.3 %

Result: RDW 16.6H

And now that I've looked back at the numbers from a year ago, the RDW was high, but everything else was LOW!

What on earth is going on?

HEMOGLOBIN 9.8 (11.7-15.5 g/dL)

HEMATOCRIT 31.4 (35.0-45.0 %)

MCV 74.3 (80.0-100.0 fL)

MCH 23.2 (27.0-33.0 pg)

MCHC 31.2 (32.0-36.0 g/dL)

RDW 18.1 (11.0-15.0 %)

You should be assessed for Babesia d. and Babesia m. as either can cause severe anemia.

In the meantime - here's what helped my blood improve. It won't treat babesia, so if that is present (or likely), it would need to be addressed with very specific methods.

I highly recommend Terry Wahls, MD book and suggestions for cellular repair. The nutrients in this diet should help a great deal, regardless of exactly what we face.

Thanks to HALEY for bringing this to our attention.
