I started Swanson' curcumin recently (800+ mg) and had no problems with it. I regularly have "herx" reactions to antibiotics and antivirals. The curcumin gave me no such reaction.
Curcumin does seem to have antiviral properties, but I don't know at what dose....
Best, Timaca

I don't know if it causes a herx or not but I started taking it during a herx for pain and to lower the cytokine response.
I had the most severe herx I've ever had, but I don't think it was because of the Turmeric.

My experience after taking high dose of the raw herb on and off over the last 10 years is that it does cause a pronounced die off reaction. It took me a few cycles of starting up, feeling better for several days, and then worse to really understand what was going on. I credit turmeric for keeping me at or near 100% during this period. I would go off it for a month or two at a time due to being lazy and forgeting about lyme. When symptoms creep back, I would go back on it. I suspect it kills spirochetes and it is not simply supressing inflamation.
I am only back here now due to being re-bitten a couple weeks ago while I was off the turmeric, debating starting a round of antibiotics.

Two of us take Enhansa and had to work up slowly due to herxing. It wasn't terrible but we started it 1.5 years into treatment.
