I posted a few days ago about having a rough time on rifampin and doxy. My emotions were through the roof and my pain quickly followed.
I asked my LLNP for something different , but was not open to taking fluoroquinolones. I just received a message that there are no other options for bart..
Not sure what to do now..

how about anti anxiety meds? I really hear your pain. anxiety is at the top of my list for sx that are so tough to tolerate

It's really not anxiety. When I'm on the rifampin I get extremely depressed and spend the whole weekend crying, for absolutely no reason at all. On top of that it greatly increases my hip and back pains.

There are herbal options. Both Zhang and Byron White have formulas. Ask your LLNP.

Also, I just thought of the doctor you posted about who does the live webinar. You said you can ask questions.
Maybe he knows of some options.

I heard spectra too. So sorry Ellen.

IMO the rifampin is beastly.
I'd try the herbal route and/or the Bactrim.

Ellen: My LLMD RX'd liquid Septra (Bactrim). I weaned up 1ml at a time. It was very manageable that way...and I can't tolerate meds at all.
There is hope. There are other options.

There are always options.
FIR saunas, lemon water daily, clay, diatrametis earth (sorry about the spelling)
epsom salts baths, walking, foot baths,
I just started pulse electromagnetic field therapy and after one session see results.
I am currently on Cryptolepis which is a natural antibiotic and doing well.
In a week or two I may have a different story.
Samento (Cats Claw) has been good to me.
Mimosa Pudica Capsules also were suggested to me.
Dr Buhner has a new book out called Herbal Antibiotics.
It really opened my eyes to other options.
All this said, as soon as my kindey and liver functions come back I have to go on Mepron.
Not looking forwar to that. YUK. Gotta do whatcha gotta do.
My Borrelia and Babs are still haunting me.
Hope I can get the Babs it gives me the most grief.

Healer John Douglas killed all my lyme, babesia, bartonella, and nasal staph last week, leaving me with plenty of heavy metal detoxing to do (and still have mold in the home), but in much much better shape as a result of no longer fighting those infections. Very transforming. He'll be in northern California this coming weekend, then Hawaii following weekend, then southern California next, then it looks like back to Australia until he returns to the U.S. in 6 months. Says he has done this for about 3,000 with lyme.
As others have said, there are always other options. This is one of them.
That's interesting, Michael. Sometimes, I think about various metaphysical solutions... I'm glad it helped. Let us know how you do in a month or several months. Maybe you could post a separate thread about it if you are up for discussing it?

I'm looking at Buhner's earlier book, "Healing Lyme," and it also mentions azithromycin as a treating antibiotic for bart.
Nonantibiotic options he mentions: Japanese knotweed (to inhibit the inflammatory process, plus a list of other beneficial actions), boneset (to stimulate immune response), red root (clear lymph system), stephania (consider as a secondary approach).
Don't know what the new book says, if anyone can check it...

Ellen, please see my post on this thread. Was in the same place as you.
