I posted this on General Support but think it might be more appropriate for Medical. Has anyone had any experience with an org. called "Point of Return"? It was mentioned in Connie Strasheims latest book. They have a program to help people get free from dependence on drugs such as pain killers, benzodiazapines, anti-depressants, etc., based on nutritional support. I have been taking Ativan (lorazapam) for 7+ years and really feel the need to quit but haven't been able to do so on my own. The dr. who prescribes them says no to worry about it,I am only taking a pediatric dosage! Mental state is slowly deteriorating.

I think I did order the supplements from Point of Return...is it a supplement program? It does NOTHING to help with weaning from a benzo in my experience. The brain is dependent and the brain takes a long time to heal, so you just have to cut the medicine in minute amounts. I had to go to a compounding pharmacy and have them make a suspension for me. I was on a baby dose for just one month and it was HELL coming off. It all depends on the person. Never ever will touch another benzo again!

And yes, ativan affects all brain functioning...mental state, emotional state. It is a depressant, causes all sorts of issues, especially when your body has become used to it and it throws you into tolerance withdrawal. Then you have to increase it and the cycle continues. Not good!
