I have been on antibiotics off and on for six years. I am better but far from well. I am to the point I just can't see taking any more antibiotics. It just can't be good for us to be on them for so long. So what do we do if we still aren't well?? What are the rest of you doing? I need help.

- If you were not able to see the recent ILADS conference during the free video streams, you may want to purchase some of the DVDs of the presentations.
Dr. Burrascano (who no longer is a treating doctor) said that very HIGH doses are required and that many don't see improvement because they never get the right dose to really clobber. Treatment techniques, too, are important.
Burrascano mentioned that he really would do more IV, much sooner than he used to were he to still be practicing today.
Be sure to see the work of the LLMDs who spoke of treatment plans not just for lyme but for ALL of those stealth infections that go with it.
And be sure that ALL other infections, heavy metals, parasites and genetic variations (methylation, porphyria) are considered, too.
Of course, LIVER SUPPORT and ADRENAL SUPPORT are vital during any treatment protocol. Their absence can lead to failure.
The toxicity of the infection - and some treatments - MUST be supported by the body and some bodies just can't "do" that without very specific measures.
Diagnosing Lyme Disease (&/or whatever else is going on)
Other tick-borne infections and other chronic stealth infections - as well as certain conditions that can hold us back - are discussed here. -

Hi Sick
This business really stinks doesn't it? I am in a similar situation having been in treatment for 3+ years without a lot of improvement.
For me it was time to start some other protocols. My LLMD recommended the Salt/C Protocol which I am just starting. I am also trying Japanese Knotweed as a tea. But I am still taking ABX as well.
It does drive my a little wacky at how this is so different for everyone. It comes across to me that the docs have their ""weapons" and they are pretty much hit and miss. But I always feel hopeful that the next batch of meds & supps is the one that is going to make a difference.
Hope you are feeling better soon

- soccermama, that pronoun refers to the Burranscano - sorry, I put the name after that rather than before. I just corrected that.
But there were other speakers at the ILADS conference with essential detials regarding treatment combinations and methods, too. Their work must be considered, too. -

I adore Burrascano, but obviously in some cases (like myself) even high-dose abx for years doesnt help - and of course does harm.
I wish abx abx was the answer, but in my case it wasnt. So Im looking for answers like everybody else on this board.

I firmly believe that if we didn't get rid of the mold in our house I would still be extremely sick.
If you haven't had the HLA DR test you should, it will tell you if you can't detox Lyme, mold or both (me)
If you have these issues you can take a prescription binder called Cholestrymine and it will bind to the Lyme or mold toxins. If I didn't do this I'm sure I would still be sick. It has been a game changer for me.
I'm still in this mess, but I am so much better than I was. I am 85-90% most days.
If you can't detox mold you should test you house with an ERMI test. I got mine from EMSL laboratory, they are the cheapest. We couldn't see or smell the mold in our house but it tested very poorly. We knew where we had some water damage and gutted those areas.
Best to you

And treat for candida/yeast... You'll be surprised at how much you'll feel!

RC1.. I've followed a few of your threads and one minute your a mess and the next minute your telling people your ready to go off all the pills your taking. Which is it? Cause If mold was your problem and your still sick then how on earth could that truly have been the problem. Very conflicting Info. Did you ever stop to think that all the ABX combos you are constantly taking are keeping you from getting better? I'm sorry, you worry me. Just a thought for you to ponder. Well wishes.

I said I'm still in this mess, not I am a mess. Meaning I still have an active infection. I am doing so much better and I am very close to being done.
Abx saved my life. For me it was the right thing to do. I had a lot of stuff going on infection wise, and mold was the catalyst.
Everyone had the right to their opinion, mine is mine, and yours is yours.

Ok. I read months ago you were close to being done. I just find your posts very much in conflict. So I'f mold was your real issue and you got rid of that, then why are you not 100 %? It does not make any sense at all. My clear eyes find it all very misleading. Sorry that's my opinion. You also mention you get nervous when a symptom comes back. That's dangerous thinking cause your never going to free yourself from this with that kind of thinking.

The # 1 co-infection now being recognized by ILADS is parasites/worms. If you have been on abx for yrs and still not well, you might want to look into treating parasites with antiparasitics.

Perhaps it is time to consider a more holistic approach, or that the issues you currently have are not due to Lyme?
I think we are all guilty of assuming all our symptoms are Lyme related when in fact they could be something else entirely.
As far as parasites go I feel at times that is a little over stated as well. I feel as though every time a symptom is posted someone chimes in that its parasites. When in fact it may have nothing to do with parasites at all.
Have you read the book by Katina Makris?

So true Ellen what you mention about symptoms. I think that's what keeps some stuck.
