Hi everyone....I have been having loose stools and bad nausea for about a week now. It isn't a stomach virus, as I have had plenty of those lately and I have no fever or chills or sweating like I usually do with a virus.

I also had another comprehensive stool test done and zero c diff was found, so thank goodness for that at least. I am concerned with all of these bowel movements however. It has worsened since being on tpn, so I am sure that is a factor.

Any ideas as to how to stop loose stools? It is nauseating and painful and quite frankly gross to deal with this gastro stuff all day long. I take tons of probiotics and I eat very very low fat. Thanks. Jess.

Homeopathic Nux V. may be helpful. It is for frequent, loose stools and nausea, caused by gastrointestinal disorders. I'd suggest a dose 4x/day until symptoms improve.

Homeopathy is safe to take long-term, as long as it helps symptoms.

Another idea is to try a small amount of activated charcoal. I don't know the impacts of charcoal on a slow stomach, hence my suggestion to try a small amount first.

I got terribly, terribly constipated on TPN, so I'm not much help with this issue...

Maybe if you can handle it, a soluble fiber supplement such as guar gum may help to thicken things up and help to absorb the bile and slow things down a little for you. Avoid psyllium, oat bran, and other insoluble fibers, because those tend to slow down the stomach.

I hope this helps...take care,

I had a stomach bug that lasted 10 days awhile back. I took probiotics at night and charcoal supplements during the day. Both helped some.

Razzle-I will look into the soluble fiber to try as well. Thanks again you are a lifesaver. Jess.
