I've been on abx therapy for about one year now. I've been on cycles of several different abx with a pulse therapy 4 wks on and 4 wks off. Dr. has been to a Lyme Conference and it was advised there to NOT pulse but stay continueally on abx targeting main culprit which is Bartonella in my case. While on last round of Cefuroxime and Azithromycin I did not hardly have any herx reactions at all. Now that I've started his new advised therapy of Doxycycline and Levofloxacin I am certainly herxing. I have bad temple (or one sided) headaches, neck tension up the back of my head, very achy cracking joints. I have trouble sleeping as well. Does all this mean we are killing the little buggers well now with therapy and the other was not doing as well?

The best Lyme-literate doctors will tell you that you need to treat the co-infections (Babesiosis, Ehrlichiosis/Anaplasmosis, Bartonellosis, Tularemia, and Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever) which come with Lyme disease first in order to treat Lyme.

Sounds like something is being killed off! As many here know, what works for one person may not necessarily work for another.

Btw - please break up your posts into 2-3 sentence paragraphs, as there are people on Lymenet with neurological problems who cannot read large blocks of text. Thanks.

Your symptoms indicate that you have a magnesium deficiency, likely caused by the liver needing more magnesium to detoxify poisons.

Headaches, muscle tension, and achey cracking joints can be helped by taking magnesium and fish oil, which will reduce inflammation and help the cells to work better.

Magnesium and fish oil also provide support for the liver, which uses their constituants to make glutathione.

Other liver support includes
CoEnzyme Q10
Undenatured whey, for amino acids
Acetyl l-cysteine
Alpha lipoic acid
Milk thistle

Which supplements has your doctor advised you to take?

For example:

Levaquin gave me a lot of relief from bart. I would stick with it if you can. I took it for 7 months straight. No problems. Just clarity.

My ILADS doctor does not pulse anything but cyst buster.
