Dear friends,
first of all thanks for this great resource of knowledge. I am 3 weeks into my mepron & zithromax treatment (for babesia) now and I feel it does a great job already but nevertheless have a couple of questions it would be great if you could contribute.

1. I take 1 tspoon in the morning, one in the evening with fatty meals, is it better to take it all at once or does it matter at all?

2. Is it better to take it continuously or to stop for a week every three weeks?

3. I am considering a liposuction. The problem is not really urgent but I would nevertheless like to do it as soon as possible. Do you think it could negatively affect me (I have lyme as well and heard those stories that a surgery affects the immune system).

4. I have strong repeating pain in my right knee, do others experience this as well (I think it's rather babesia than lyme). Should I increase the dose if the pain remains after some time?

5. I am seriously suffering from Insomnia (and from depression in recent days). Should I push through or give the treatment a break?

6. Do you have any experience with xanax against Insomnia? I used to take the strongest version of Xanax against anxiety now and then but felt "hangovered" every other morning so I am a bit reluctant (would take it only if necessary not every other day).

Thank you very much for your replies. I may not be able to reply soon since my home IP is somehow unfortunately blocked on lymenet. But I will nevertheless read all your replies and be very grateful.

Best regards,
Kern

I couldn't take mepron because I am allergic to zith and all of its substitutes. So, I got rid of babesia by taking Bactrim DS and pulsing artemesinin.

So, I never faced the issues you are bringing up. But, my friends got some bad depression from mepron. If you start planning your own suicide, then you must definitely stop mepron. Don't try to push through if it gets that bad.

Some have said that by temporarily stopping the mepron, they have permanently gotten rid of the "mepron blues." There is an old thread by that title. Research it and you will learn all about the mepron struggles.

I had insomnia, but good lyme treatment got rid of it. My lyme doc said that lyme affects the sleep center of the brain.

Regarding having surgery, I have always heard that surgery weakens your immune system and so it can cause the lyme to go wild. Based on that, I would postpone any surgery that could possibly be postponed.

If your knee is also swollen, that sounds more like a classic lyme symptom. I don't think joint pain is a babs symptom. I think it is a lyme symptom--hence the term "lyme arthritis."

thank you TF for these information. The reason why I regard the bone pain as Babs related is that I am on abx for 18 months and I developed that pain during the past few months while still being on abx(doesn't really feel like herx).

After treating lyme, babs came through. Nevertheless I' ve heard that lyme may not be solved unless babs is solved.

But I think/hope that the remaining lyme will automatically be cured by the heavy load of zithromax I am taking with mepron.

Best rgrds,
kern

When I started Mepron/Zithromax my joint pain improved greatly where within a week. In 2010 I was treated just for Lyme. I was told Babs does effect joints.

I had a knee scope and didn't recover normally despite doing all my PT and doctor told me to do.
My Lyme and other TBD got much worse after I had major ortho surgery the following year.

I would not have optional surgery when dealing with Lyme and company.

Did you take abx n stuff while you had that surgery?

My oldest, 20, has doubled his mepron to 2 tsps. twice a day. He has been treating it for 2 years. I would definitely take it twice a day. He does not take a break.

I am staying away from all surgeries right now. My youngest needs his wisdom teeth out and I am putting that off as long as I can.

Can you treat the insomnia with a sleep med? My one son is benefiting from Remeron along with herbs. He has to sleep to heal. You do, too.

Not sure there is a direct link to increasing mepron and stopping pain.

Thanks ktkdommer for your reply.
I have another question concerning alcohol-I know what Burrascano says and I know that it's never good to drink when dealing with lyme & cos.

Nevertheless: have you allowed yourself a drink now and than and still cured your Babesia? I am not a strong drinker but I really like a beer or two now and then.

I know you guys can not give medicale advises, your opinion is nevertheless much appreciated.

Thanks,
Kern

I try not to drink with a very rigorous treatment protocol that includes tindamax. I have however done it here and there. I am over babesia.
