A burning pain in my face started some time ago and flared (like a TN). It got worse everytime I used my eyes which of course I had to use quite often.

Now this tingling vibrating pain is there for 24 hours. Since months. And it also moved deeper in my head. Im so frightened. Does this mean the nerve tissue is permanently damaged now?

Did anyone have constant 24 h pain that went away with treatment?

Have you tried neurontin? It is an excellent Med for nerve pain.

Also believe it or not antihistamines have worked great on facial nerve pains as well.

my sister in law had similar symptoms -- they were caused by a tumor atop her brain. a trip to a neurologist may be in order.

I have that symptom right now...it went away when I was on massive antibiotics.

I plan on asking my Dr for Neurontin.

I agree with cottonbrain, make sure a neurologist has ruled out other sources of your symptoms.

I had normal MRI results of my head, so no tumor. And I dont go to non-llmd-neurologists anymore. Been there too often, have heard too many mean, ignorant things.

I hesitate to take neurontin cos it can cause such strong side effects, even long term, and i am so sensitive to meds.

But youre right. I have to fight the pain somehow. So i already take tons of supps (b-vit, reishi, shiitake, kapparest, c, ala,...), now consider antihistamines and am looking foward to more ideas. Thanks.

Supplements that reduce inflammation should be helpful for this.
Also B vitamins and B12 will help the nerves to heal.

Magnesium
Fish oil with high EPA
Systemic enzymes, like Serrapeptase, Wobenzym

Sublingual B12, methylcobalamine
B12 Patch

A pulsed magnetic field will help the cells to heal.
I have used the SOTA Magnetic Pulser on aches and pains, knee pain, muscle spasms, toothache, sore throat, esophageal spasm.
Excellant results and pain relief.

Try Benadryl right away. It got rid of my trigeminal neuralgia when nothing else worked!

I could hardly believe it.

Lyme attacks the nerves. But, don't start thinking it is permanent nerve damage. That rarely happens. Even after I had bells palsy for 3 years, I woke up one day and it was totally gone! And, this is before I started any lyme treatment and didn't even realize that what I had was a bilateral bells palsy.

Also, my lyme doc had me buy some sublingual B12 and just take the amount suggested on the bottle. You let the pill dissolve under your tongue. Do NOT swallow it or it will not work. It must dissolve under the tongue.

This type of B12 got rid of some of my nerve symptoms within a month.

I would go to iherb and read about serra peptase enzyme ( very safe and good for you and cheap) . Then I would order because it has helped many people with all kinds of pain ! It also helps with all forms of inflammmation , heart - arteries , sinuses , lung , and urinary / bladder .

I just started it 2 days ago for interstitial cystitis pain and already feel better and can breathe easily through my nose - a miracle . It is also beneficial for asthma and copd and arthritis. The reviews amaze me , and I think the product is not bogus or hype .

PS Whaen I first got sick I had scary sensations of something burning my skin, like little stinging drops of acid . It would come in "waves or attcks" and was probably nerve inflammation. It eventually disappeared . Do not panic , this may pass . The "burning " felt really frightened me .

Thanks for your nice words.

I really do panic. Cos I already have nerve pain in my arms since 10 yrs. - and now also in my face and head for such a long time.

So I found it really encouraging to read that TFs bells palsy went away after 3 years without treatment. Our body seems to have the strongest medicine.

Already take 5mg methyl b12 sublingual every other day, so quite a high dose. But do not feel any benefit from it at all yet.
