I am on I.v. Abx. Do I have to wait two hrs after I give myself my I.v. to take probiotics? I was wondering if it is the same for I.v. as it is for oral abx

I would think so. Take probiotics 2 hours before or after abx.

I don't think it makes as much of a difference since IV goes straight into your blood stream vs. oral that goes through your digestive system to be absorbed.

I'm on IV and don't always wait 2 hours to take Probiotics but space it from my oral ABX.

Isn't it that probiotics do only affect tetracyc abx such as mino and doxy anyway? I think so.

Not sure, whether calcium is released into the blood circulation after digestion and may thus still affect the abx in its' effectiveness.

Kern.. take probiotics with ANY abx.

Be sure to also take saccromyces boulardii.

The 2 hour wait rule is to allow the antibiotics to get out of the stomach before you swallow the probiotics. Otherwise, the antibiotics would kill the probiotics in the stomach.

Since you are taking your antibiotics by IV (and are not taking any oral antibiotics at all, right?), you can take your probiotics at any time.

They will not be killed in the stomach by antibiotics and they can go through your gut and repopulate it with good bacteria.
