A child who probably has Lyme disease has this form of "walking pneumonia". Dr. says 10days of Doxycycline will cure it. Is that so? Ann - OH

Not in our experience it won't. Go to www.immed.org for a lot of information about it.
We have been told a minimum of six 6 weeks cycles of treatment in order to avoid relapse is recommended.
Myco p cycles every 6 weeks.

straight for 6 weeks? What if the child can't take doxycycline because of teeth?
My son tested positive for this too - IGM and IGG positive. he also tested positive IGM for Lyme bands 23 and 41 (labcorp).
He is on augmentin, zithromax, septra, and flagyl.

My DD was on Augmentin and Biaxin for Lyme/Myco/Strep. The immunologist she sees does not think Doxy is as effective as Biaxin for MycoP. We had a pretty good result with this combo but DD's pain came back so now we are treating bart. Immunologist told me resistant strains of Myco may need Ciproflaxin (this is the abx that can cause achilles tendon issue) Myco P is very stubborn and takes months of treatment. There was a paper but I don't have the link of using IV abx for Myco P which can cause psych symptoms.

I wanted to bring this thread up again as my son tested pos for mycoplasma p. His IgG was off the charts but the IgM was neg. He was bit by the tick on July 4 and was tested Aug 28. Before the test he was on abx for 34 days but that was Amox which would have done nothing for mycoplasma, but was also on doxy for the 10 days prior to the test. Not sure if he's had myco for a long time or if it was from the tick.
Right now he is on Zith and Omniceft because we are also treating the borrelia.
For those of you treating, have been successful in treating this for yourself or children, please let me know what worked best for you. Even though my child is 9 I still worry about giving him Doxy for long periods of time. He did one 10 day course before we got to our llmd and switched him to the current abx.
Any insight, treatment experiences? I've read all if Dr G Nicholson's work.
