I have lyme and don't want to pass to my wife (married 5 years, we used protection all along). She is negative on lyme co-infection testing, non-symptomatic.
We would like to have children, but I do not want to risk her or the fetus being infected. I came across this technology of "sperm washing" in the HIV literature. It seems like a possible option.
i dont think you have to get that fancy there is an excellent lyme pediatrician who knows protocols for woman to follow to prevent fetus from getting lyme. i think(im not a doc-but this was explained to me by a doc) if the woman is on the right dose of abx when exposed to Bb she will not get infected-and many heallthy babies have been carred by infectd moms...pm me if you want the docs # he will consult with your primary or gyn

Anything to prevent your wife from getting lyme, the better - for so very many reasons. I'm so glad you have that as a goal. It's a good goal. Hold onto that.
Although women who have lyme have often found the Rx treatment to work, it's still hard on the body and not always a full guarantee. And, then the woman still has to deal with lyme beyond pregnancy and the birth. We all know it's not always so simple.
I can't say about the sperm washing but it sure looks like it's been a miracle for hundreds of others & it's sure worth asking some of the ILADS doctors about it.
Wonder if beyond the "washing" there might be some kind of safe solution into which to place the sperm so that would absorb and have it wipe out any traces of Bb inside. Just thinking out loud. Or a light?
Although so often the mother to be has lyme so these aren't quite the most common questions, still, I'd bet some of the LLMD researchers have already given this lots of thought.
I also wonder if a rife machine might be something to consider at a treatment option for yourself. I'm thinking it may have a deeper effect than Rx. -
