Just started my Vanco protocol. I notice very faint ringing of the ears. My ears do ring on occasion so Im not sure if its the drug causing it. I heard there is something I can take that helps protect my hearing. Does anyone know what it is and where I can get it

I dont know what to do at this point. I am 5 days in and the ringing has been steady and maybe getting worse. With Vanco they say to stop once any ear ringing, fullness in the ear or loss of hearing occur. Now normally the reason this occurs is because your levels are too high. My levels are low and yet my ears are ringing. The answer I need is if my levels are fine and this is happenning is it causing permanant damage or is this a side affect that will go away when I stop.

- There is no guarantee that hearing and vestibular damage will not be permament. Sadly, lyme changes so much regarding trying to figure out ototoxicity.
Hope you are avoiding headphones, especially in-the-ear pods. And protecting your ears, even with a hair dryer. Noise damage can occur at much lower than usual levels when on certain Rx.
Your levels of the Rx may be within reason, but, with the lyme toxins increased, the ototoxity is also increased.
What is your LIVER SUPPORT? What is your KIDNEY SUPPORT? Those matter greatly. Still, if the ringing is so strong, it's an indication that damage could be happening and no way to know where that will go. Sorry.
What also makes it more complicated is that lyme, itself, can cause all kinds of hearing and vestibular damage. It must be treated, somehow.
I wonder if you might be in the position to consider a RIFE MACHINE. Some who can't tolerate antibiotics have seen help with a rife.

Vancomycin can be very ototoxic. According to Neil Bauman, PhD - who wrote book on ototoxic meds...
Vancomycin should be discontinued if it causes any tinnitus. Dr. Bauman states that the tinnitus this med causes often precedes the hearing loss that will follow. He says to stop immediately if you notice any tinnitus with this med. I would suggest you contact your LLMD and see if there is another antibiotic you can try.

Something I would also suggest is to increase your dosage of magnesium and somehow increase your anti-oxidant intake. Both are protective of the ears and can help reverse some damage that may have already been done.
I have suffered additional hearing loss from taking zythromycin while being exposed to loud noise. I know this is probably all overwhelming to soak in all this information. Feel free to PM me if I can be of any support.

Bauman is brilliant. His book exceeds detail any ear specialist has ever shared with me.
His links are excellent but his book includes so much more. I think it should be required reading before anyone even starts any Rx treatment for any illness.
Doctors should have it, too. But most do not.
To be clear, though, liver (and ear) support supplements are NOT included in Bauman's book.
