If you have a CBS mutation, and 90% of chronically ill people do, you cannot tolerate foods high in sulfur such as coffee, cabbage, broccoli, collard greens, kale, brussle sprouts, mustard, carageenan etc.
The Gerson therapy uses alot of those foods. It would send me into a" biochemical overdrive".
Test for your methyl cycle mutations so you know what you need and are not doing a one size fits all treatment.

Thanks for posting this.
nefferdun, how do you go about testing for methyl cycle mutations? and how do you know how to interpret the results?

Nefferdun I tested for the CBS mutation and I do notice I don't do well with coffee and garlic, I thought the garlic was just a herx but after genetic testing I'm not sure.
I actually didn't have a problem with coffee until i got sick.I really wanted to try to do CES regularly, will a ce affect u the same way as drinking it if u have CBS?
What are your reactions to coffee and sulfites? I know I have CBS but I'm still pretty confused about the rest of my genetic results.
Sorry for going off topic cat girl.

VV I discovered I have the CBS mutation by doing the 23&me and then having someone help me interpret it. You can also go to genetic genie and have the raw data turned into a chart which isn't too hard to understand. I still have a long way to go before I understand what exactly I need to do for treatment but I am getting ready to read a book by Amy yasko and hopefully that will give me more insight.

I have been doing Gerson for 1 week, and I'm doing much better. Pain is half, brain is more clear. I have a history of very poor detox issues, but I have no problems with this.

That's cool Jubilee! Did you have yeast issues prior to doing it, or now? I wonder if the coffee enemas will remove the yeast right away?
