I'm asking for Coartem for my next round as I feel I've developed some Atovaquone resistance. Still making progress, but it's s...l...o...w...

Plus I want to reduce my fat intake, just to see how I respond.

I know the dosing schedule, but I want to know how often to take a round. TF posted some notes from a Dr. H presentation that said he recommends 1 time/month.

A friend with Dr. J in DC does Coartem every 3 weeks, but she takes two weeks off meds after each round. She is on IV and pulsing.

And what about Daraprim? How many have done this combo?

And did you stop all other abx during Coartem? I know it stays in your system for 3-6 days after the final dose.

I'm thinking 3 weeks of abx (nothing that is contraindicated with Coartem), then round of Coartem. Wait 5 days. Rinse, repeat...for 3 months.

I see my doc in 10 days. I like to have my ducks in a row. [Razz]

I do it 4 days on then 10 days off, and repeat.

I did about 8 rounds every 3 weeks and I was cured of babesia - but had PR to deal with. I did malarone in between. Coartem is great. I think it was using 4 drugs that did the trick for me - malarone has two and coartem has two.

Good idea to reduce your fat intake. I was taking 25 grams of fat each dose. When I tested positive for PR, I made a very quick recovery on the low fat diet and stromectol.

I've been on coartem for 5 months. Started 1 round every 4 weeks, with no improvement for 3 months.

Now I take it every other day. I'm also on malarone. Herxed worse than ever for over a month, basically debilitated. Some symptoms are starting to subside.

My LLMD has been having a lot of luck with coartem with her patients, but that I have the most stubborn case she's ever seen. I think I'm starting to improve but extremely slowly.
