Some background first: I have been on the Buhner protocol for several months. Early in, I tried nattokinase for biofilms. I felt HORRIBLE with a couple of days, so I quit. I have scraped and crawled up to a level of health than I am (barely) able to hold down a full-time job, and I must function at a certain level to do it, and I couldn't with the nattokinase doing it's thing.
I decided to give it another try a few days ago (I think it was Thursday or Friday night). I'm not feeling very good again today (Sunday), so it looks like I'm going to have to stay away or use it differently if at all.
Now the question: can I be sure that the nattokinase is just busting up biofilms, and that the ensuing misery is from immune activity and toxin release, or could it be doing real damage in my body?
I was taking Doctor's Best, 2000 FU, and I use it as Buhner directs one to use serrapeptase in his mycoplasma protocol (one at night on an empty stomach). http://buhnerhealinglyme.com/the-protocols/#MYCO Posted by Lymetoo (Member # 743) on :
NO damage. It helps the antibiotics get deeper into your cells...hence the increase in your herxing.
And.. I would say it DOES break up biofilms. It's a win-win. Just take one a day for awhile and see how you do.
OH.. I see you're taking one a night. Then take one every other day/night?

Thank you. This is good to know. I think I'll try every other night. Maybe that will be tolerable.
Another question: I didn't get a notification for your reply. How do I fix that?

I don't think you can. As least I'm not aware of a system that alerts us.

I have exact reaction with serra peptase ! Feels like living hell , which must mean it is hitting biofilm . I literally get close to tears . My advice is to take no more tham half a capsule daily . Usually the worst herxing will die down in a couple of weeks, then you can go to a whole capsule daily . I strongly suspect the enzyme is the cause of the misery and I was shocked at how powerful the effect was .

It works!

Definitely skipping the natto tonight. All I want to do is sleep today. Good thing work is slow with spring break.

The serra peptase herxes made me feel like a sleepy dishrag . I can only take a half capsule if I want to function .

How long should I expect it to be before I don't react anymore?

It's probably quite variable from person to person. Depends upon your bacterial load and how sick you are.
