For those of you who rotate probiotics, how do you do it?

Do you totally switch brands and stay with one brand for a few months?

Or do you use multiple brands at once and switch those up?

I would take one brand (or two) for several months and then switch to another one (or two.)

If you're not allergic to a particular probiotic, that's senseless.

Get one with a lot of strains of bacteria. The best I know of (price, strains, active culture amount, container even) are:

Ultimate Flora Force 50billion with 10 strains, but has to be kept cold. HealthForce Nutritionals FriendlyForce is 50-150billion or more depending on how you want to use it, with 6 strains and is even better in my opinion due to usage (I use 1.5 teaspoons and get 75billion, lasts 45 days) and price.

Both can be found on iHerb.com (type in SEM523 before checkout for a $5-10 discount):

Good luck!

Page 28 of Burrascano Guidelines says to mix together several different brands of probiotics "to broaden the spectrum." Here is a quote:

"BASIC DAILY REGIMEN (in order of importance)

1. PROBIOTICS (required when on antibiotics)
Kefir: This is a yogurt-like drink that is said to more permanently replenish beneficial flora. It is only necessary to drink 2 to 4 ounces a day.

Acidophilus: the best kinds are frozen or refrigerated to ensure potency. Usual dose is two with each meal.

Plan to mix together several different brands to broaden the spectrum. Acidophilus can be gotten from most vitamin stores but some generic brands are of unknown freshness and potency. An alternative that does not need refrigeration and can be taken only once a day is a high potency, patented product called Pro Bio from Pharmanex. The ultimate mix of pre- and probiotics with soil based organisms is a product called Prescript- Assist Pro from Researched Nutritionals. This too does not need refrigeration.

In addition, have 4 ounces of sugar-free yogurt on occasion."

You should take a regular probiotic AND s. boulardii.

Whatever you like.

Thanks everyone for the replies. I have a bunch of different probiotics (stocking up before it gets too hot in shipping) and all of you have given me ideas on how to take them.

You might want to talk to your doctor. People here are good for ideas, but there are many opinions.

S. boulardii is a yeast probiotic. You also need to take a bacterial probiotic with it. My LLMD had me take various bacterial probiotics, but always with s boulardii.

Personally, I change them up every 2-3 months as I like changing things up. Probiotics are not all the same.

Also, I may run across one that I like more than the others.

Good luck,

Thewino
