Hi-after few months on rifampin, started to have liver pain. One week, labs were fine-the next liver enzymes were elevated. We stopped meds and llmd says can take couple of weeks for inflammation to go down?! Anyone experience this?

Yes. I've had elevated liver enzymes MANY times both on and off meds.
Milk thistle doesn't work for me but glutathione IV, NAC, ALA and detox teas seem to lower them (sometimes).
My liver enzymes were elevated for a long time but finally went down when I started Rifampin which is the opposite of what happens to most people. I think that in my situation bartonella was causing the liver inflammation, not the meds themselves.

Thanks Summer-did you have discomfort in that area as well?

I have had pretty bad pain in my ribs but it wasn't unbearable and I'm not sure that it was my liver bothering me or just bone pain.
Strangely with me, I tend to feel better overall when my liver enzymes are elevated and worse when they're normal.

Could you explain to me where your pain was at? I have right sided pain but don't know if it is liver pain. Thanks

Hi Winni My pain is right under my right breast. Lots of pressure, can feel the inflammation. I had my gallbladder removed but it feels a bit like a gall bladder attack. Also goes into my back occasionally. I have had this for few weeks but blood was normal until last week. When llmd examined me, she said she felt inflammation and it was definitely liver.
Hope your pain lessens soon.
