A little history. C4, c6, herniated disc verified by MRI. Spine surgeon prescribed pt and muscle relaxants etc.

Was doing great and woke up with my left side spasming, including jaw, calves.

Anyone with this issue. Plz chime in. [confused]

I have herniated discs in my cervical spine from a horse accident and had to use pain meds for a while. I have to take one at bedtime with the muscle relaxer.

I don't take muscle relaxers during the day or I would be sleeping all the time.

There is a topical lidoderm patch that you can put on the painful area 12 hours on and 12 hours off that could give you relief. It is a prescription.

For muscle spasms and muscle pain, my LLMD always reminds me to up magnesium.

Maybe also consider bee venom ointment. It is anti-inflammatory, and is a vasodialator so it may help restore blood flow to the area.

Depending on where you get it...Venex runs anywhere from $35-50, and lasts a long time. A little bit goes a long way.

No. And if you are not sure, you need to do a tiny test patch on your inner arm. (And I guess have Benedryl handy just in case! [Smile]

I too had this in C5 and C6. I still hadn't been diagnosed with Lyme yet and this specialist told me my choices were surgery or else epidural steroid injections.

DO NOT DO THE INJECTIONS. I can't say what you should do since that will be up to the doctor. Just telling you that from my experience, that was the options they offered me and in the end, neither would have helped without the root cause diagnosis.

I use to have horrid pain in my neck even while treating (probably a herx) but eventually, it did get back to normal and I have no more pain there.

I've always thought it would be interesting to have that same doctor do another scan and see if the problem is still there since it isn't, how does he think it mysteriously heal on its own.

I don't know if it was Lyme or a co since I always was treating Babs and Bart.

I do know it was so painful, so I hope you can get it resolved soon.
