I received my saliva cortisol results back, and no surprise to me, it's a total mess. Upper end of range at waking, BELOW range before lunch, ABOVE range before dinner, and low end of range before bed.
I have been convinced for a while I'm riding an adrenaline roller coaster all day; I personally believe it's adrenaline that's been causing my losing my cookies (vomiting) all too frequently -- any thoughts on how to interpret these test results?

Thanks, Keeb! I'm reading through it, but -- aren't my adrenals behaving BOTH ways -- insufficient, AND overproducing? Where do I start to read up on that?

Actually, it is not too bad. At least it is not sky high late at night so you can't sleep.
It will probably be suggested that you take some adaptens at lunch to help you make it through the day.
Adaptens are supplements that support your adrenals. Some examples are Rhodiola, Ashwaganda, Siberian Ginseng, Licorice, Vit C and Cordyceps.

I feel your pain. I was there for 18 months before finally getting a Lyme dx. It is the WORST feeling and the lab results don't even seem proportional to the symptoms. I think the symptoms are worse than what the labs reflect.
I see you have been on this board since '06. Yikes, so sorry you are still dealing with this symptom.
I feel like I am still dealing with it, but it is much less severe, hopefully indicating the endocrine system is starting to right itself.
Have you ever tried cortisol? I haven't, but if I knew then what I know now, I would think it would be worth a trial.

What does your doctor want to do about the test results?

Thanks, guys!
KGG: I'm pretty sure if you did four different 4x / day saliva cortisol tests, they would be different; I do have difficulty sleeping up last night until all hours with restless legs; Gaaaccckk!
Koo incredibly sorry you've been through this; it's been hell. 2006? Yea, that was my second account; I've been here since 2004! Take heart, though, I'm much better than I was.
Faithful, thanks for keeping up with my saga Lyme doc is out of town; controversial doc says when I start the progesterone 400mg / day, it will sort out my blood sugars, and by extension the cortisol. But everyone here I've spoken with is so shocked by the dosage, I really don't know what I'll do yet.
Years ago mine was a mess, then going from doctor to doctor, any type of treatment just got lost in the mix.
Fast forward to last month..... I have been having issues that I felt were absolutely related to either my adrenals or my thyroid. So I did the saliva adrenal test (4 samples collected throughout the day). Well, big surprise, it all came out with very good results! The only thing I can think that helped me was for this past year I have done salt/c (for parasites). I've heard that the sea salt feeds the adrenals. I use to have a lot of 'fight or flight' responses and anxiety, but not anymore. So I'm convinced that the sea salt really helped out my adrenals.
Now I have thyroid issues to deal with.... but that's a different discussion.
