This was from the other thread I started, but wasn't sure that these questions would be seen:
I'm wondering if I would be better off with IV tinidazole, since I have lesions on my brain that look like MS, and have lots of lab documented nervous system involvement in many places?
I was rx'ed oral tinidazol for one month. This is the first time in years of on and off treatment that I've ever had a cyst buster, in spite of asking for it for years. Or maybe I should start with oral tinidazole, and then lobby for IV, if I think I need it?
is it ok to take Tinidazole by itself without anything for the spiro or cell wall defiicient forms? I gather so, but just checking to be sure. (People answered that they thought so, I'm just checking with TF, or whoever, who knows for sure).

Is it available in IV form? I thought it was only oral...

My understanding is it is only available orally. The IV option would be Flagyl.

It is available IV, but how much it's used IV, I'm not sure. I thought that Tinidazole had somewhat less of a profile of neuropathy and
other side-effects. Am I right? I already have a lot of well-documented neuropathy, so I don't want any more! But I want to get well!
Anyone else?

When we take tindamax or flagyl, we always have at least 2 other antibiotics on board. No sense busting upon the cysts if you can't kill the spirochetes when they comes out.

- That makes sense to me too. Why do you want IV? Oral should work fine and you could stop it without losing a ton of money if you had a bad reaction to the drug.
OH.. just read your note about lesions. Many with Lyme have lesions on their brains, so heck, I'd just go with oral tini myself.

Any further feedback on tinidazole without abx for the spiro's and L-form?
Arghh! I'm getting really tired of trying to get my dr to rx what is necessary.

What other drug are you thinking to go with it?
Are you doing supplements at all?
When I pulse Tindimax, I have to start with 1/2 a pill twice a day for three days ,then go to full tablet the other 12.
Prayers going up,,,for doc to listen and get things rolling.
Myself. I haven't tried the Horsey way........ Posted by faithful777 (Member # 22872) on :
To take care of cyst busting, you have to use Flagyl or Tindamax. I don't know anyone who uses IV for either of those two abx.
Orals for those two drugs are usually tolerated if you titrate up slowly.

I would do rocephin, plus, I wanted to do minocycline (ramping up VERY slowly!). However, my doc only rx'd tinidazole by itself for Lyme, and other meds for Babesia, but not at the same time and with a wash out period in between. And then nothing else for Lyme after the month of tinidazole!
Nonna, I gather that you had herxes or side-effects from the tinidazole, hence the 1/2 pill. Is that correct? Maybe I should ramp up slowly.
The Horsey way? Do you mean ivermectin?
I have always done tons of supplements.

Does anyone know: does tinidazole cross the blood-brain barrier? I am wondering if it penetrates the sequestered areas as well orally as IV (not that IV necessarily penetrates the sequestered areas).

No talking about horsey supplements is allowed on Lymenet per their rules please!
