I am curious how long people take Metronidazole, as well as dosage. and other meds you took in combo. with it. I hear bad and good about it.

You have to take a cyst buster during treatment. As soon as you go on abx, the spirochetes go into cysts.
Some do different schedules, but mine is two weeks on and two weeks off. You will herx and that may be what you heard about, but that is what you want.
That means flagyl is doing it's job. The other cyst buster is Tindamax.
Every one's combination of other drugs they take will be different. It just depends on how many other coinfections you are dealing with.
You will not get well without taking a cyst buster.

I took metronidazole when I had preterm labor, but I think it was a low dose - never had a problem.
But when I started lyme treatment and took it, it laid me out flat for days at a time (my doctor did not pulse it).
My new llmd pulsed tindamax, 2 days on 5 days off and I had no problems with it.

I take it daily and have for months. I have no issues with it. I herxed, but no worse than any of the other antibiotics I've taken. I am on a slightly low dose for my weight.

Start slow.

I took flagyl for 60 days straight. 250 mg three times per day.
I took it first with amoxi and then, when my doc moved on to bart treatment, I took it while on levaquin.
I herxed for about a week. The first 3 days were bad, and the next 4 days were half bad. In total, it was nothing to write home about.
This is how I got rid of lyme disease. I wasted 2 years with a doc who gave me only high-dose amoxi for lyme. Then, I switched to a Burrascano-type doctor and he added the flagyl to the amoxi. Then, I finally got rid of lyme disease. And, it only took 2 months of flagyl to do it!
Everyone is different. If you have signs that you can't detox, you may want to go slow with the flagyl.
My doc had me drink lots of lemon water and eat the anti-yeast diet. In fact, he treated me for a week with diflucan before putting me on the flagyl. So, this way, I wasn't killing yeast at the same time.
Flagyl is effective against many, many things, including parasites. So, it can make even non-lyme patients sick as a dog.
Wish you the best on it.

Hey guys, you always come to my rescue with questions and I really appreciate having you to turn to for help. This answers a lot of my questions. I feel better on the flagyl, also taking other meds for lyme, but wow my night sweats are drenching on this flagyl , every night. Like getting out of a swimming pool and smell. ha

Burnsjw... I am taking Tinidazole. 250mg twice per day, and pulsing one week on, one week off. I too feel WAY BETTER with the week that I take the Tinidazole. And the night sweats are INTENSE! Everyday I wake up with wet hair... it's disgusting. But aside from that, the Tinidazole is great. The doc explained that it can be hard on the liver and the kidneys, so that is why the pulsing is important. Also I have monthly bloodwork done for kidneys and liver. (I am also taking Mino and Clarith for abx). All I know is that I feel so good during the week during the Tinidazole and I dread the week off it because I spend the entire week in blisters and major joint swelling when I am not taking it.
