I have been seeing babesia treatment since nearly March of 2012. I used only mepron and azitromisin for approximately six months. At the last three months of that treatment, I increased the dose of mepron from 2x1 cup to 2x1,5.
Although I had herx both at the beginning and after the end of the treatment, there did not emerge a serious improvement. So I added flagyl and azitromisin treatment to that treatment. Especially by adding flagyl, I had a serious herx. Moreover, Artemisinin also brought about herx.
Because of the fact that when I used two of them simultaneously I had terrible herx, I used one of them for a few days, and then switched to the other one.
Now it has been one year and three months since I started treatment. As flagyl causes herx continuously, for the last one month I have been using artemisinin(600 mg) and mepron(2x1,5) every second days.
What is more, Artemisinin caused dramatic herx again and made me depressive, reluctant, and anxious. Furthermore, it created irritating pains on my leg muscles. My brain fog and memory problems still continue.
Especially because of the anxiety in the mornings I feel myself have to take half of xnx. However, I should say that this kind of problems are not so heavy as the previous ones.
I have been taking ab for lyme for nearly four years and CD57 is 210 now. It was around 355 one year ago. I had bartonella from which I recovered thanks to the treatment.
My babesia test result is negative. I think my babesia is a very persistent kind. I do not see first six months effective that pass without using additional medicine.
I think it has been influential when I have added flagyl and artemisin to mepron and azitromisin for last nine months. However, I have question marks on my mind: ' How long will this treatment continue?, Will I come over babesia? And so on'
I take mepron+artemisin+flagyl every second days and azitromisin every day. Is there anybody who has an idea about my treatment approach? Can I come over babesia? Thank you. Ahmet

Ahmet, do you see a doctor to help you with your medicines and doses? I have done several herbal
treatments but I understand they may not be available outside the United States due to
different countries' restrictions. Many people take binders that bind to the toxins that are
byproducts of bacterial or parasite cell wall deaths. These binders act in the intestines and
hold onto the toxins so that they may be excreted instead of recirculating in the body and causing
herx symptoms. Some of these include apple pectin, a type of
clay, and other things. Maybe pulsing the artemisinin would be better--3 days of pills, four days off.
I have tested negative for babesia twice, but have treated for it due to symptoms. Babesia can
infect as little as 1% of your red cells and thus will not be picked up on a test.

My oldest son just tested positive babesia duncani after 3 years of treating for Lyme and babesia. He does mepron daily with zith and then artemesia 10 days a month. He takes flagyl two days a week but will be increasing that next month.
Have you read Buhner's new book on babesia.
My guess is you have Wa-1 or babesia duncani. I too wonder when babesia treatment will end for us.

ahmet, I understand your frustration with treating Babs. It can be difficult to eradicate.
"There generally is some degree of fluctuation of this count over time, and the number does not progressively increase as treatment proceeds. Instead, it remains low until the LB infection is controlled, and then it will jump."
Are you being treated by a doctor? If so, can the doctor order Byron White herbs for you? They are pretty strong, and there is one for Babesia called A-BAB.
I agree with OtterJ about the importance of detoxing. Are you doing things to detox?

Thank you every reply OtterJ
There is no LLMD in Turkey. I have to manage my treatment I have been done several herbal treatment and there was no benefit(A-Bab 3 month, cryptolepis time to time, samento 3 months, side acuta, etc)
I have done detox via chlorella and far infrared sauna
ktkdommer I have read Buhners healing lyme book .but I didn t read new babesia book . Perhaps I have babesia duncani. Do you know anybody to eradicate babesia duncani with treatment and how long time? Sammi Thank you for CD57 information. Sometimes babesia eradication with treatment, Borrelia begins activation and its become more agressive behaviour. Perhaps my condition like this.

Ahmet, I know of a good lyme doctor in southern Germany. He treats lyme and all of the coinfections and is up on the latest ILADS information.
Let me know if you would like the contact information. Perhaps after one in-person appointment they would be able to treat you by telephone. I hope so!

I hope you find the solution, ahmet! Do you have classic babesia symptoms?
Posted by OtterJ (Member # 30701) on :
Ahmet, I have had good success with Byron White's herbal tincture called "A-Bab". If you email the above address, they could tell you if they deliver to your country.
This tincture has Neem, Yarrow, an herb called Cats Claw and a few Chinese herbs that are beneficial to treatment.
They also can tell you how to take the medicine if you would like to try it. I hope they can deliver to your country. Keep emailing us for suggestions.

ahmet, I tried to send you the doctor's name, but your mailbox is full.
Let me know when you clean it out and I will resend.

Ahmet, it sounds like you may still have some bart (anxiety, depression, hopelessness).
Also, many patients fail mepron. Have you tried malarone?
Otter's suggestion is great if you can get the stuff. In addition to trying A-Bab, A-Bart works really well for me too. So does A-L (hits lyme). I think Forrest health sells it.
Also, ivermectin and diflucan also hit my babs (not together though, separately).

Candida could also be complicating the issue.... brain fog, depression, insomnia, anxiety.

Wow, Ahmet, I hope you can see the LLMD in Germany. To manage this all by yourself is much too difficult. It's hard enough when you have a good Lyme doctor. The German Lyme doctors that are ILADS trained are very good.
