I took about 1/3 of a low dose(llnd said dose was safe enough for a baby)nystatin pill.

I'm having pain in both kidneys, could it be from killing yeast there?, or is this something I should stop taking it over.

It's not giving me pain anywhere else, and i'm sure I have yeast in other places too.

I wouldn't think so. Nystatin is not absorbed systemically. It remains in the intestinal tract so it is only active there and excreted through feces.

As far as I know the only reason it would cause kidney pain is from killing yeast in the gut and then having the dieoff toxins get reabsorbed, and finally filtered through the kidney.

That's just a hypothesis though.

FYI the pain would certainly not be from nystatin toxicity. Nystatin has been shown to be very benign.

Do you have the liquid form?? It contains sugar.

I have the pill form. It's not as bad now. Pain seems to be mostly during the 4-5 hours after I take it.

So nystatin doesn't treat systemic yeast, only intestinal?

I wonder if the kidney pain is from filtering out metals from the bloodstream.
I've had this happen with some supplements.

When you kill off yeast, the metals like mercury that were bound up in the yeast cells are released.
The metals are absorbed through the gut walls into the blood, just like other nutrients.

You could take a binder like diatomaceous earth or clay, which would bind with the metals in the intestines, before they can be absorbed through the gut walls into the blood.

These binders would also absorb any other minerals or medications they come into contact with in the intestinal contents, so you would need to take them several hours before or after.

Right. Take it with food.

Okay, i'll try to add some binders, clay and charcoal can be constipating for me, so maybe the apple pectin I have.

I'm glad it's not increasing the already flared gi tract i I have, but I've never had my kidneys react this way before.

Dogmom2, if something is causing kidney pain, perhaps you should stop taking it.

I tried Resveratrol a number of years ago, and got kidney pain.
I spent three days in bed, stopped the Resveratrol, and have been afraid to take it ever since.
