I've been on antibiotics since Feb and six weeks ago my LLMD prescribed Malarone to be taken three days a week. In the spring after 4 weeks on Doxy, I Herxed having heart palpatations, anxiety and other symptoms that blessedly last only a few days. This morning, I thought I was Herxing again with similar symptoms. I thought maybe I was dehydrated due to the extreme heat lately. I have no fever but chills and am wiped out.
Is it possible to Herx this far into treatment? Or perhaps having a reaction to the Malarone which I took my last dose yesterday.
Also, in this heat should Lyme patients increase their fluid intake?
Many thanks in advance!

- I can't speak to the particular Rx but
just be sure you getting enough sea salt and adequate amounts of not too cold water, spread out.
Yes, it's possible to herx anytime. However, sometimes the illness, the meds, even the support measures can just make us feel icky.
I'm thinking the extreme heat has affected a lot of things. Many with lyme do not do well at all with heat - for many reasons.
Support for myelin sheath (wrapping around nerves) is especially important during heat. Basically, good greens and lots of bright veggies and some low glycemic bright fruits like dark berries and dark cherries (if you can, at the end of a meal if candida is an issue).
Hawthorn for the heart is also good as is magnesium and both can help offset heat stress, particulary heart palpatations & anxiety. -

If your urine is not clear pale yellow, you are dehydrated and should increase your fluid intake. This goes for anyone, regardless of whether they have Lyme or not.
Yes, it is possible to herx this far into treatment...but contact your doctor to make sure they are aware of what you're dealing with.

I spent the day in the ER yesterday after going in for dizziness, tightness in my chest, anxiety and various other symptoms. All tests turned out that I was OK, except I was moderately to severely dehydrated. Two bags of IV were given to me. The puzzling thing is, I've been drinking 100 ounces of water plus coconut water on a regular basis. But one doctor yesterday thought the two ABXs plus the Malarone have set an unbalance in my body requiring quite a bit more water. Plus this heat is a large contributing factor and with Lyme prevalent in areas now being hit by a heat wave, my advice is to greatly increase intake. AC can also dry you out!
Has anyone experienced what I've just been through?
