My niece is living with us and is just now being diagnosed with lyme. Since we're together more I see symptoms I didn't know she had.

Tonight she's saying she's been struggling to breathe all day because it hurts her throat (not typical sore throat) and her chest. She coughs up some phlegm but is really struggling to breathe. She's breathing shallow to avoid painful breathing and then will do normal breathing for awhile

Anyone out there have any ideas what this is? She does have fever, sweats and chills like babesia but it doesn't sound like typical air hunger.

I appreciate all help! Thx

Maybe she's got a bad case of candida in her esophagus?

Symptoms of bronchitis and pneumonia include a productive cough (brings up phlegm), and fever.

She should be evaluated by a physician who will listen to the airflow in her lungs to see if they are obstructed.

How is her color? Nice and pink?
Look at her lips and her fingernails.
If her skin color is bluish, that's a sign that she's not getting enough oxygen in her blood.

What is her oral temperature?
Wait 15 minutes after eating or drinking to measure it, to make sure that the mouth returns to normal temperature.

Drink lots of fluids to remain hydrated and to thin the mucous so that she can cough it out.
If she has a fever, don't worry about eating much, as the elevated temperature reduces the enzyme activity in the gut, and food doesn't digest well.

Can you get her evaluated at a local "doc in the box?"

Ive had something similar. Throat pain with a productive cough and chest pain upon breathing. It was so bad that i thought it was heart related. I started drinking a mixture of apple cider vinegar baking soda and water or sometimes just the acv and water. It settled everything within 2 days. I also used a homeopathic throat spray called Vinceel. This gave immediate relief of the pain and coughing.

Thank you everyone for your help. Lululymemome your story sound the most like what she was experiencing. She's ok this AM but I'm picking up some of the spray u recommended. She's complaining about the vinegar but when it happens again she will probably be happily use it when the pain hits.

Thx again!

Be sure to dilute the ACV well.

Yes.. add 1 tbsp to one cup of water... if she has any esophagus issues adding 1/4 tsp baking soda first to acv and let fizz out before adding water.

I had this, it was a major gerd attack. I'm pretty sure I had some hpylori going on as well. I would listen to Carol in PA though. Interestingly, ACV helps people with low stomach acid.
