I am allergic to some medical adhesives but not all of them. I have a port and really like to tape my line to my chest when I am accessed but not infusing.

I've tried paper tape, and 3M Transpore hypoallergenic tape. Both cause itching and red splotches, followed by a raised red welt area where the tape touched.

I'm also allergic to Tegaderm, but have an alternative dressing to use.

The place sending my supplies this month is not very helpful, but if I ask for specific types to try maybe they will at least send something different.

Adhesive sensitive people, what kind of medical tape works for you?

If you are allergic to adhesive tapes there is a great alternative, silicone tape! It is super gentle to the skin because it does not use any typical adhesives.

"3M Kind Removal" is one silicone tape brand. Ask your infusion co to get it for you if you are allergic to paper, cloth, and silk tapes.

Silk is one I haven't tried - do you know if the silk tape adhesive is similar to paper and plastic tapes? Or is silicone tape the most different?

Silk tape is a strong durable fabric tape. I like it because it adheres well. The adhesive doesn't cause allergic reactions like plastic tape does for me.

Paper tape can be harsh on your skin because the longer you leave it on, the more it melts into your skin and becomes impossible to get off!

Silicone tape is the most gentle because it does not melt into your skin like paper tape. It can be removed and replaced and it will still stick. It does not have traditional adhesive, it is completely made with silicone!

Follow the link below to the 3M website to learn more about the the "Kind Removal" tape. Hopefully this link works, the original was 3 lines long!

I've used other silicone tapes and love them, just recommending the 3M one since that seems to be the brand that your infusion co seems to be using.
