Lately my buttocks hurts so bad. No other pain like when I had full on Lyme. What co-infection would cause this? Or any other illness?

Ooh, outch. I had that for awhile too. The only thing I could think of was maybe lumbar nerve root inflammation. It was horrendous. Not down my legs--just in buttocks.

I think it's Lyme - it can affect any tissue. Nerves can make muscles hurt. Lack of mg can cause spasming and build-up of lactic acid. Another possibility - nerve subluxation in the pelvic area, which a good chiropractor can check on.

I fixed all this when I had no clue what was going on. I stretched out every muscle in the swimming pool for nine months.

I took pain med to tolerate the first month of doing so, then the pain started going down as I guess I was getting oxygen and nutrients into the muscles and waste products out. That was a year or two before I found out what was going on.

"What makes your butt muscles hurt?"

Let me count the ways....

Someone pulling a chair out from under you when you are getting ready to sit down.

[Big Grin]

Toxins collect in fatty tissues. NOT saying you have a fat butt, but do keep that in mind.

You might want to try some lemon juice in water- drink it, don't sit in it- to remove the lactic acid from the muscles that Robin50375903 mentioned.

Hope that helps some!

In my experience, we carry a lot in our hips. After I got better, I would get soreness in the hips and butt as my body kept getting healthier and healthier. It seemed toxin-related to me ... like the body store toxins there since some muscles there are hard to move.

As Robin mentioned, it's not a bad idea to try to exercise these muscles to oxygenate and get the toxins out.

Also, muscle spasms can cause pain. If it's the piriformis muscle spasming, the pain can radiate down the leg, all the way to the foot even.

Babesia:

Dr. S's symptom list states that large muscle pain in quads / buttocks is Babs.

I had this really bad during my first six months of treatment. I agree with bcb, I think it was Babesia.

It helped to stretch them, put your ankle over your knee and pull up on your shin of the leg your ankle is resting on. That helped a lot. I did both sides every day.
