Tame chronic pain with turmeric

Studies show turmeric, a popular East Indian spice, is actually three times more effective at easing pain than aspirin, ibuprofen or naproxen,

plus it can help relieve chronic pain for 50 percent of people struggling with arthritis and even fibromyalgia, according to Cornell researchers.

That’s because turmeric’s active ingredient, curcumin, naturally shuts down cyclooxygenase 2, an enzyme that churns out a stream of pain-producing hormones,

explains nutrition researcher Julian Whitaker, M.D. and author of the book, Reversing Diabetes.

The study-recommended dose: Sprinkle 1/4 teaspoon of this spice daily onto any rice, poultry, meat or vegetable dish.

I take curcumin 3 times a day. I can't take any other pain relievers. This saves my life!

Thanks for posting this, Groovy!

I also do turmeric - I get it in bulk from the healthfood store and put it in capsules. It takes down joint swelling and probably the fibro pain too.

There was an Indian ice cream store in town that made turmeric ice cream! I didn't know I had Lyme then. If I'd known, I could have been treating! - [Smile]

I tolerate 665 mg 3 times a day. Any more and my stomach rebels.

Swanson's needs to start giving me kickbacks! [Big Grin]

I have taken 1.44 grams a day for the past year or so. Actually way more that that, I use the powder in a lot of dishes...almost daily.

It has NOT helped my pain condition at all in even the slightest way.

Absolutely zero relief. But nice to hear that it helps some!!!

Seren.. curcumin is the active ingredient in turmeric... So maybe you get more of the pain relieving aspect by ingesting the curcumin.

I have severe GI / gut issues. New scope showed that I have 6 active ulcers throughout stomach & small intestines.

I can't even tolerate oj or table pepper without severe burning.

Can I still take turmeric pills? Does it have any gi effects?
The spice powder was too much for me.

My brother-in-law takes cayenne pepper to calm the ulcers in his stomach. Says it takes the pain away.
