I'm nearing the end of my second month of treatment. I tested negative for coinfections. Right now I'm on bactrim and clindamycin.
The past two days I have had horrible chills accompanied by horrible hot flashes. I have not had this before even before treatment.
It feels like the flu times 100. I also have symptoms coming back I have not had in a long time. Beiing off balance and tremors and shaking.
Is this just a really bad herx or could something else be going on. I see my LLMD thursday thank goodness because I haven't felt this bad in awhile.

Do you have fever? Bactrim can cause bad reactions on some patients.
You could "just" be herxing, but then again, it could be a drug reaction.

Hello everyone, I have recently been diagnosed positive with Lyme Disease (1.23). From my understanding, I have probably been carrying the disease for a little over 2 years now. I live in Harris Co., Georgia and I am looking for a local LLMD. Can anyone help me?

Welcome, lymeandme! Please post over in Seeking a Doctor.
There is very little help in GA, but we'll find you a place to begin!!

I'm so sorry you're feeling this way.
I was on the same combo plus herbs and quite literally felt the same way you do. I felt like my hormones went off, my heart went off, anxiety through the roof, truly was insane.
I talked to my LLMD and was taken off the clindamycin and placed on doryx (form of doxy). I started that 3 days ago and tonight I'm starting to feel awful too.
I used to back down the abx a bit when I felt awful and then go back up when I began feeling better.
Talk to your LLMD about a med change. I understand that sometimes it's a herx and hitting something hard, but we have to be able to want to function. I literally felt like walking death on that combo so I can totally sympathize with you.
Good luck and let us know how you make out.

I bet it's babesia then. Not that you can't have fever with babs but I was wondering if it was a reaction to the Bactrim. I googled it and you can have fever with a reaction.

My llmd thinks babesia too. No treatment change. Is that normal? He just wants me to detox more.
He wants me to get liposomal gluthione (sp?) But its so expensive. Anyone have experience with it?

Clindamycin hits babs, so does bactrim. Maybe he's waiting till your bug load is a little down to add mepron or malarone. Detoxing sound good

Babesia. These symptoms for me are without a doubt babs.
What test did you take? The tests are garbage. Try an Igenex babesia fish. There are many strains of Babs, so the tests are only so good.
The fish test is pretty broad, so that is a good shot at finding a pos.
I would detox as much as possible, but you'll most likely need Mepron or Malarone, or both at some point.

Here is what Dr. H of NY said about using glutathione to detox. From the 2010 lyme conference:
Herxheimer reaction:
Take-home message: DETOXIFY YOUR LYME PATIENTS!
It does NOT matter what antibiotic you give people, they will NOT get better without detoxification
For Herxheimer reactions: 2 Alka-Selzer Gold (no aluminum) in 8 ounces of water with lemon or lime followed by 6-8 capsules of glutathione or 1500 mg of oral liposomal glutathione.
70% will feel better in hours
[end of Dr. H notes]
There are plenty of old posts here about glutathione. Some have said the suppositories are the best. (Of course, IV is the very best.) Most top lyme doctors are telling their patients to take glutathione as it opens up the detox pathways.
Start a new post if you want more comments on this topic.

Thanks, not sure what tests he ran but he said last month I came up negative for coinfections.
But when I told him my new symptoms he said that's babesia. And he wanted me to focus on detox.
My husband is out now trying to find the alka selzer gold now.

You may have to look for it online.

Ok thanks we are having a hard time finding it.

I found it at a local pharmacy. Call around rather than drive around.
