My LLMD is on medical leave and has cancelled my last three appointments. This has put me in a predicament. After three months on triple therapy (zithro, plaquenil and minocycline), I do not want to continue with it. I'm specifically concerned with the vision loss plaquenil can cause.

Sooo, my only other alternative was to refill the Doxy I had prior to that. I know I'm self-treating a bit here, but I'm considering pulsing it for the next three weeks until my next appointment (assuming this one is not also cancelled).

My questions then are: 1) Is Doxy a good antibiotic to pulse with? 2) At what point in treatment in pulsing most effective? Early on my doc indicated he doesn't do that until later on in the treatment protocol. 3) What is a good pulsing schedule (days on, days off, and dosage)?

Thanks!

Cancelled your last three appointments, and I assume his/her office will not even ans. a question for you - I think it may be time to consider a new doctor.

Maybe others can help you with the (Doxy/pulsing) question.

Oh, they offered to have me come in and see the PA to discuss my meds. I opted not to. I do not want to pay for a visit, in time or money, to see someone who is not an actual (lyme educated) doctor. This is my personal decision. But I've always been the proactive, do your own research type anyway.

Kat, would you add the doxy to the zyth, and mino? I've never heard of pulsing doxy. It's usually the harder hitters like flagyl or Tindimax. Doxy alone unless on high doses (400mg a day) can cause the bacteria to go into cyst form.

If you are looking for low dose info check into road back.org.

Hmm, I actually wouldn't mind this going into cyst form and then taking a cyst buster when (if) I see my doc next. I had been wanting to try a cyst buster anyway. Really not sure what to do. The plan was to switch me every 90 days to prevent antibiotic resistance, but when you can't get in to see your doctor, all that goes out the window.
