Its an awful feeling, and its been bad for about a month. Anyone have this related to a specific strain of something. The day it started I was in the middle of a cipro pulse.
stopped it, but still awful burning

Hi,
When you mean burning in your upper back...
Do you mean topically, ie on the skin, like a sunburn?
Or burning muscles, like the muscles in your back are overworked?
Or do you mean inside burning, like esophagus burning but you feel it in your back?
Best wishes

I didn't have the burning.
But before lyme abx it felt like I had been kicked between my shoulder blades. And it radiated into my sternum.
It was like being squeezed in a vise.
It went away with doxy and tindi.
When I get exhausted it starts up.
For me, I attribute it to lyme in cartilage and other connective tissue.

Its inside my back. Just the top mainly. Starts next to my spine then radiates outward. Getting an xray on wed. Hope it shows what it is

YES I have burning skin on my back, legs, and sometimes chest. When it gets bad, i put ice packs on my skin.
In fact, I recently found that freezing aloe in an ice cube tray reallly helps. Its very soothing.
I was told by my llmd that its neuropathy but i also believe its inflammation because it comes and goes.
Hope you feel better!

It's a common lyme disease symptom. Mine started when I was given IV Levaquin in the hospital. Cipro is in the same family and may be the culprit. Effects of floroquinolines (sp?) last for a year.
However, abx treatment is what calmed it down after several months (Ceftin, doxy, etc.)
I can't tell you what disease it is, but it is a neurological symptom which is common in Lyme and coinfections.
