Within the past six months, I have developed allergies to bactrim, oysters, possible other fish - tests pending. Also an intolerance to gluten.
Help! How do I STOP this cascade of new allergens???
I know that Lyme can cause new allergies, but I don't understand why all this is happening now, after two years of treatment, when all the other symptoms are much improved?
And what to do about it???

Does this have something to do with the Th1 and Th2 ?
I thought I read somewhere about the immune system getting "reversed" with chronic lyme?
I had allergy flares about 5 years after the first lyme infection. (untreated)
It has went away since treating since April.
Also, somewhere, Buhner's site or book says to be sure not to take astralagus when chronic because it can aggravate the Th1 and Th2 confusion.
Sorry I can't be of more help-my brain is mushy today. Stressed.

Any issues with leaky gut? When my gut was messed up I developed a lot of food sensitivities from food particles entering my blood stream...just a thought.

I agree with desertwind, look into reestablishing your gut health. Prolonged antibiotic wreak havoc on your gut flora and cause an imbalance.
I would venture to say that it's not quite lyme that "causes" allergies, but the treatment. But that is an unscientific statement and only related to me and what I have observed.
Be sure to take a good probiotic, but that alone isn't enough. You should be drinking a gut heal tea formula and eating fermented foods at every meal.
Gut health is essential to your overall health.

What about the mold?

I experienced a similar outbreak of strange allergies which led to hives and angioedema. When the allergy began, I would also begin a mild weasing similar to Asthma. I began taking a natural antihistamine called D-Hist twice a day along with my Abx treatment. I continued after treatment. All the allergies and weasing stopped. Just something to try. I also had a total IgE of about 700-800 with the normal maximum of 200 at Labcorp. Its now down to about 250.

Lymednva- what are you referring to? Environmental mold?

We have been communicating about mold in our homes. So yes, environmental mold.

Hmm, the mold is an interesting thought that I hadn't considered. Lots of areas to explore.
