Well I hate to give in and ask but I am in considerable pain.
NSAIDS aren't touching this pain in the bones of my legs and hips at night.
Best I can compare it to is one time I walked around on broken bones in my foot for 6 weeks...the pain in my leg bones feels like those foot bones felt after an day on my feet at work.
Effexor was supposed to help with this pain. It is only helping with the bee sting/electricity pains. Not this deep bone pain.
I can't take codeine.
I can't take this leg pain anymore either.
Please reply or PM with what works good for this kind of pain.
Thanks

I forgot to add that I take 4000-5000mg of magnesium per day, and 12mg boron daily.
And I know painkillers are toxic but this pain is wearing me down.

- I don't have time to research this now but it is my understanding that "4000-5000mg of magnesium per day" might be WAY too much. I thought top suggestions were for 2,000 mg per day. Always in divided doses, of course. Too much magnesium at one time can cause kidney stress and even damage.
You can likely find the upper limits in the links here:

Have you tried Tramadol? It helped w/ my deep bone pain when I had babs.

I was going to say Tramadol too. But it's not effective for some people. I never got much mileage out of it.
Have you tried curcumin, glucosamine, and MSM?

Neurontin might help, but it might not, because it is better for either nerve pain or muscle pain. But it's certainly worth a try.
IMO (and I'm a health professional, but, of course, NOT your doctor, that is waaay too much magnesium, which can make your bone pain worse. I'm not saying that it is the cause of it, but it could be, if you do it long enough.
Can you not take any of the narcotic pain meds? For really bad pain like that, they often work the best. But not if you can't take them!
It sounds like you need a pain management doc, while you work on the infection treatment. All the natural stuff may help, but may be insufficient for that level of pain.
Have you made sure that there is nothing else going on? Certainly TBD's can cause this level of pain. You just don't want to miss anything else either.

Have had that type of pain as my worst symptom, for most of the time that I've been sick.
Started with over the counter NSAIDs, which didn't help. They've had me on all kinds of anti-depressants, which also didn't help.
I tried Tramadol, which made me feel sort of weird and stoned. Despite Vicodin being a "stronger" med than Tramadol, I feel a lot less weird on it, and so far that's been the best for me.
I'd find a doctor, whether it's a pain clinic or your LLMD or your PCP, who's willing to work with you a bit on trying some different things, to see what works best for you.
From what I understand, talking to others in the same position, pain medication seems to affect people very differently, so you've got to do a bit of trial and error.

Hi all.
I asked my doc about the safety of that much mag, and he said it was OK. To take magnesium to bowel tolerance. IV mag doses are much higher.
I've tried MSM, curcumin and glucosamine.
Tried prescription NSAIDS of all kinds.
Magnesium creme rubbed on my legs.
Homeopathic for broken bones, bone trauma.
Where do I find a pain management doctor? Do I need a referral? Or can I go to a gp?
Thanks

To find a pain doctor depends on your insurance.
How do you usually go to specialists? Do you need a referral? Do you start with your GP?
Finding a good pain management doctor can really help manage your daily pain. narcotics are just one way they can help.

I didn't read all it might be that her magnesium is not being absorbed I agree that's a huge dose
I would really stay away from oxycodone or oxycontin it's really easy to get dependent on them
I had less trouble on the fentanyl patch low dose but you can get dependant on it
Nsaids do work for my bad pain and i have found if i take 6000 fish oil a day i can get by with 1200 less ibu
In my e cc perience neurontin helps nerve pain but not this pain but i only take low dose
Good luck

Greta, I'm having severe bone pain in my hips and legs too, so my heart really goes out to you. What meds are you on currently? What infections are you targeting?

Tramadol takes the edge off for me. Cymbalta helped me a great deal.
I am curious about the neurontin for muscle pain. Thought it was just for nerve pain.
Oh the other thing that really seemed to help me was amantadine. I was given it with biaxin to make it work better, but It also greatly effected my pain. Did some research after and a lot of vets are using it for pain relief.

MSM and tumeric help a lot. I take 10 grams of msm twice a day and 600 mg Tumeric twice a day.

Low Vitamin D can cause bone pain.
Low B vitamins and B12 can cause neuropathy and deep aching pain.
Without enough Vitamin D, your body won't be able to use magnesium properly.
Also, hypercoagulation causes pain. I found this out when I began taking systemic enzymes, which relieved alot of headache and body pain for me.
