As many of you know, I do not have a LLMD yet - I am seeing my PCP who is lyme friendly. She is who diagnosed me and has been treating me.

I'm looking for a LLMD (seems most aren't accepting new patients!)... but want to continue to be treated in the meantime.

So my doctor has me on 200 mg of doxy (100 twice daily).

My last appointment, I was feeling really good, so I raved about how great I was feeling, how I was so happy we figured it out and I thought I was on the right track.

Then that wore off and I've spent the last 2 weeks feeling miserable.

I want to change my meds... either add another med or up my doxy dose.

Are there certain things I should ask my doc about? Should I ask her if I can up my dose or should I just tell her how I've been feeling and see what she says?

Any advice would be great! Thanks muches!

up the doxy dose, 200 mg is insufficient in the long run, you've plateoued.

Yes, I would ask her to double that dosage or even add flagyl if she's willing.

You may be having your monthly herx. That could be one reason you are feeling worse.

There are lots of LLMD's in this area. Mine is in VA, and taking new patients.

I would NOT! take Flagyl if I were you!! Tindamax is much more tolerable, and doxy and tindamax is a good combination. Please, do yourself a favor and don't touch the flagyl-you may be one of those few whom it really messes up.

If I knew what I know now, I would never have touched the stuff.

Tindamax was great for me and did just as well if not better than the Flagyl. Just my 2 cents.

OK... so I want to ask to double my doxy (I take 200 daily now) and add Tindamax...

I have taken Flagyl in the past... and was not a fan... but was willing to do it for the sake of getting rid of lyme, but if there's another alternative...

Will Tindamax be enough on it's own? Or no?

If I have babs or bart, will doxy with tindamax cover those as well?

I don't feel comfortable doing alot of suggesting to you concerning your treatment, but I would recommend going easy at first here.

So maybe up your doxy. and add tindamax for the next month and see how you do, and in the meantime get tested for coinfections and read Burrascano's treatment guidelines which are posted here under "General" (I believe that's where it is without doublechecking).

Doxy. and Tindamax does not cover bart. and babs by themselves.

You will do so much better in the long run, and fare better physically and financially (in the long run), getting treatment under a good LLMD that is truly ILADS trained.

---All my suggestions are just that-since I am not a health professional
