Great article on K1 and K2 .. very essential for helping prevent INFLAMMATION (among other things)...

K1 and K2 are also found in fermented vegetables! Woohooo!!

Nice article on K2 benefits! Yes, I take it with vitamin D3

I like to do green smoothies which are good for K1

One of my favorite greens is kale which I heard tops the charts with the highest amount of vitamin K

Anyone care to share what dose of K2 you are taking. I've been taking 45mg daily for a long time.

I'm taking 100 mcg .. which is FAR less than 45 mg!! The important thing would be to get it naturally.

...and yes, add D3 and magnesium for those bones!

I do take Vitamin D3, magnesium and a ton of other stuff. My vitamin K2 drops come in 15mg drops, so I take three. That was recommended by my doctor a long time ago.

The reason I asked is that the doses suggested in the article are way longer than what I'm taking, similar to what you take.

Upon looking at the bottle of drops again, I see that the entire dropper equals 15mg. I take three drops and have no idea how much that equals but it's way less than 45mg!!

I takes 1000 mcg's to equal one mg .. so you are taking way more than me.

Let me go read the article again.

--editing to add--

"Although the exact dosing is yet to be determined, Dr. Cees Vermeer, one of the world’s top researchers in the field of vitamin K, recommends between 45 mcg and 185 mcg daily for adults. You must use caution on the higher doses if you take anticoagulants, but if you are generally healthy and not on these types of medications, I suggest 150 mcg daily."

Thanks. I'll talk to my doctor when I see her next month but I've been on this dose for at least five years without any problems and don't take any of those medications.

I found some info on what I take. It's made by Thorne and it says I'm taking 3mg a day at 3 drops per day.

"Thorne's Vitamin K2 Liquid supplies 1 mg of vitamin K2 per drop. Research shows doses up to 15 mg three times daily may be used."

That's a LOT. That's 3000 mcg.

But.. I know nothing about it! [Smile]

The bottle says you can take 15mg three times a day but I haven't read that any where else.

I plan on trying these. My potato chip addiction may get replaced if they turn out good. Not my recipe just found it on line.

How to Make Kale Chips

Recipe type: snack, chip

Prep time: 10 mins

Cook time: 20 mins

Total time: 30 mins

Ingredients
•1 large bunch of kale (I used the curly kind)
•1 tablespoon olive oil
•sea salt

Instructions
1.Preheat oven to 300 degrees F.

2.Wash kale, remove the inner rib or stem, and tear into chip-size pieces. Make the pieces a little larger than you want the chips because they will shrink.

3.The kale must be thoroughly dried. I ran it through a salad spinner, laid it out on paper towels for 5 minutes, and then ran it through the spinner once more.

4.Put the kale pieces in a gallon plastic baggie and add the olive oil. “Massage” the kale to ensure that each piece has a coating of oil.

5.Arrange the kale in a single layer on a large baking sheet lined with parchment paper (or you can place them right on the sheet). You may need a to use more than one sheet or bake in batches.

6.Sprinkle with sea salt. Use a bit less than you think you need because the kale shrinks and the salt intensifies.

7.Bake for about 20 minutes, until the kale is crisp and slightly browned.

8.Enjoy!

They taste great! I made some once and ate the whole batch in about an hour!

My husband hates the smell of it though.. so no more batches lately!

That looks like a very good buy on vitamin K2 from Thorne. Thanks for bringing it to our attention. Clearly Ive been spending too much money on other products.

that is if it is a one ounce bottle, is it Abxnomore? they don't tell you.

Yes, it is a one ounce bottle.

I had a little craze on kale chips, but noticed that they do set off my extreme upper abdomen bloating.

With vitamin K and D3, there is an optimum ratio. I looked it up a while ago and found that for 5,000 ius of D3, i needed 1 mg k2.

Thank you for that info. I take 15,000 IU of D3 and 3mg of K2, so I guess it's about right.
