I'm curious if anyone has an insights to what creates the night sweats with Babesia? i'm in my 8th month of babesia treatment and i have made great progress. That said lately my night sweats are more frequent as in almost every night.

Is this an immune response by any chance?

as a side bar i came down with a bug that everyone in my office seem to get over the weekend. Had my first fever in a decade and seem to beat it quicker than anyone else in the office. That said i had a really strong immune response was flat on my back for two days but i have bounce right back. i see this is as a positive.

Any thoughts are appreciated.

Dave

It sounds like your immune system is getting better, maybe from knocking your babs down (right on!).

Night sweats can also be from proto (FL1953). My night sweats kept coming and going until I discovered that they were directly related to eating fats/animal products. If I eat any during the day, then that night I have them. If I eliminate fats/animal products (arginine), they go away.

Interesting about the animal products. Makes me wonder if hormone related.

I guess i will pay attention to that. For me i never had a night sweat until i started treating Babesia. And i had it for 6 years before treating.

Pocono, I get them with nuts/nut butters too (arginine), and of course oils as well.

Have you done Primaquine? IMO Primaquine is an absolute necessity.

i have not....just Mepron + Zith and 4 months Artmesisin. Just adding a-bab this week.

Dave, I suggest going very slow with A-BAB until you know how you react to it. It is very strong stuff.

This seemed to be key for me. I did months of Mepron/Zith, had to double the Mepron when the chills returned.

Still had symptoms years later. I took an easier approach in the end. Primaquine for two weeks followed by Coartem.

Primaquine is the only drug that can be used to eliminate hypnozoites, the dormant forms of the malaria parasites that occur with Plasmodium vivax and P. ovale infections.

I've had drenching night sweats, chills, etc through BOTH babs and bartonella treatment. But in both cases it's the first symptoms that started to improve with treatment.

If you're in the 8th month of babs treatment I'd be surprised if that's what's causing the night sweats.

Thanks...i'm not convinced its Babs either....the sweats are not nearly as heavy as what i had early on in treatment and i do know the treatment is working. My energy level is the best it has been in years...if the heavyiness in my head would clear up i would officially be telling everyone to move me to success story.

but alas i am not there yet...

Dave

ps...yeh i used the Alas [Smile]

Dave-High Five on "alas"

[Smile]

I had bad sweat also, until I started treatment for bartonella.

They have improved dramatically.

ironically i just had my ART test redone and bartonella came up negative...

Thanks by the way...been playing words with friends too much lately

Night sweats can also be hormonal... as in post-partum or change of life hormonal... but obviously not with a name like Dave.

You could try the low-fat/fat-free diet for FL1953 and see if it helps...

Alas, those are the only suggestions I have [Wink]

I would/do get night sweats when yeast is bad.

I think its yeast to be honest.

Dave, I was thinking hormones, but I'm guessing you are male? But maybe some men do have hormonal sx?

After all some men have pregnancy sx when wife is expecting. Yeast? Why at night?

I only had my sweats during the day. Like someone lite a match on the inside of me. My head would sweat, but the rest of my body nada.

That all started at 42 and I was much too young for menopause. Didn't even have night sweats as I went thru menopause about 2 yrs ago.

Pam,

i am guy...well at least i try..not easy surrounded by three women...i don't think its hormonal...everything is feeling and working fine....i think it is sugar/yeast or still babs.
but is there ever a clear answer?

Pocono Lyme,

I sent you a private message asking you about dosage and duration of the Primaquine/Coartem treatment you mention in your above post but just in case you don't see it there (or I don't see a reply as I am new here and learning the ropes) I am wondering if you wouldn't mind posting the info here. Specifically, duration of the Primaquine and Coartem as well as dosages. Thanks!!!
