Whn I take Azithromycin alone I feel nothing it´s quite useless. But if I take it with plaquenil after one or two days I start to feel worse with aches of the joints of feet and fingers burning eyes and I also get dots similar to acne on my chest and the back. Did anyone make the same experiences? I`ve been taking antibiotics for 2,5 years now and can`t believe there are still so many bugs that cause this kind of herxing. I made the similar experience when adding amantadine to azithromycin. I feel no herxes anymore from ketek together with a tetracycline. Can just the fact that amantadine and hydroxychloroquine make the cell more alkaline inside cause this?
I know no other reason as this beeing a strong herx. How long will this hold on? Please tell me what you think. thanks.

Perhaps your killing parasites with the plaquenil combination? Sounds like it could also be hitting borrelia cysts? This is what came to my mind.

Your description sounds similar to a post from 2009 from LymeMD blog. Someone posted the same kind of response. The doc had been seeing this in his practice.

do you know the month of the post?

I have no response in that extreme way from flagyl or tinidazol so I believe it´s not the borrelia.

Interesting post Jup, and thanks CD57 for remembering the discussion from that long ago. Isometimes forget what I just had for lunch.

I recently went on a new Bart combo with Plaquenil following a month off all ABX while on a last ditch Coartem course against a long battle with Babs. I had taken all of the Rx's prior at different times and in different combos since starting treatment in March 2010.

I first started with mino and a few days later added plaquenil, then started parastroy with salt/c for three weeks. No major issues thru this period.

After finishing parastroy I added Rifampin. The next two weeks were the worse symptoms I had since starting treatment. I had taken Rif about two years back with Zith and Doxy, but the reaction was nowhere as severe. I had also taken Plaq with Biaxin during my first year of treatment with no serious reaction at all.

So it seems the Plaq/Rif/mino combo really hit something and I herxed pretty heavy for 4 to 5 weeks. Just starting to pull out of it, and feeling pretty good for the past 2 weeks.

I've been on some heavy protocols, including IV Rocephin for 14 months and a few rounds of Mepron/Zith/Bactrim and pulsing TindaMax on top of that. It's been a roller-coaster with some good progress, then backslides soon after hitting a plateau and changing protocols.

Still trying to piece this puzzle together fighting either a stubborn strain of Babs, some BLO, PR, and/or unknown parasites.

I'll stay on this protocol and hopefully remain stable at 80% to get thru the holidays.

later

the thing is that herxing decreases when the bugs that are not protected by biofilm are killed more and more. I have made the experience that when using lovenox (some heparin) for one ore two weeks and then taking ABX again...then the herx comes again.

but what I experience can`t be tolerated in this kind of extense when beeing at work. I deceased the plaquenil to 1/4 tablet (was taking 2 before) the thing is also that plaquenil adds on and on because in the body and takes 2-4 weeks do be broken down and excreted.

I had much biofilms shown by frylab but no PR aka FL1953. So there may be another protozoan which does not reakt very well to mepron but to other antiprotozoan medication. flagy was good as well as tinidazol and ketek. I will try artemisin later on again.

I felt no significant improvement with rifampicin.
