Well, as usual Dr S presents controversial info.
Hubby had many of the ring forms of babesia in his 2007 F lab blood smear. However according to the blood drawn postmortem in October 2012 -- the only time he was specifically tested for FL1953 -- he did not have FL1953 but 3 other unnamed uncategorized blood borne parasites based on PCR DNA sequencing.
I personally think there are multiple blood borne parasites similar to babesia and/or FL1953 that may show on blood smears but can only be specifically identified by DNA testing -- and as far as I know F lab is the only lab that has the capability of doing the actual DNA sequencing -- they have been doing that test since June of 2012 -- but the test is only done as an add on test after the initial blood smear from their lab -- the test is NOT listed on the test requisition form.

This is all good to know. I have to make an appointment to see Dr. F. The airline tickets with allegiant are the cheapest. I see the ID on Tues for his results, then will make my appointment.
I don't know why I messed around for so long trying to get help where there is none. Stupid.

2roads, there are variants of this which I am not familiar with but I do know that affects the treatment. Some people, like myself, do very well with ivermectin and others take anti-malarial drugs like malarone etc.
The other means of controlling the infection is with a whole foods low fat (less than 15 grams per day) vegan diet. The pathogen multiplies 100 times faster with lipids, and iron and magnesium are used to build the biofilm
The treatment is forever because there is no known cure. Once you get the infection under control, many people can get by without the drugs if they stick to the diet.
