I think I read before that you should drink baking soda first thing in the morning and if you don't burp after a few minutes then you don't produce enough acid. I take baking soda occasionally and I have noticed recently that it doesn't make me burp anymore.

Is this a sign of stomach problems??
Do I need enzymes or Hydrochloric acid?

I thought it was the other way around. Not sure.

Baking soda neutralizes acidity.

I prefer to use ginger chews (Whole Foods carries them) to help my stomach digest foods & to relieve acid reflux.

I did the baking soda trick after weeks of having food feel like it was just literally sitting in my lower chest after eating.

I didnt burp at all either. I believe that definatly means you are lacking HCL(hydrochloric acid). I have been taking HCL capsules or almost a year and can't believe how much of a difference it has made. I take them with everything I eat and no longer have that uncomfortable feeling after eating that I used to go

I think taking HCL benefits most lyme patients. I think the lyme, the heavy metals, toxins and antibiotics all greatly reduce the amount of HCL our stomach produces.

Here's the article. http://www.drdebe.com/self-tests/stomach-acid-assessment

I supplemented HCl for several years.

6goofy: That supplementing idea is not going to work for me, assuming it needs to be done in capsule form (rather than drinking HCl, which could be harsh on the way down). Any tips on getting the body to start making the right amount? Anything specific you did to stop needing it?
