Hi everyone. I have not been around at all in months. I like posting here, asking questions and helping out where I can, but I needed a break from the Lyme obsession. I'm trying to concentrate on other things, along with Lyme, and I wanted to stop talking about it for a while. I apologize to anyone who was trying to reach me and felt ignored. It's not you it's me [Frown] !

2 weeks back, I came down with the worst illness I've felt since the start of my Lyme symptoms, probably worse. I felt Like I was going to die.
I had been doing Salt-C for months prior, so a few days before, when I started feeling under the weather, I assumed it was a herx from the recent increase in dosage and the upcoming full moon.

It didn't wind up feeling like Lyme/coinfections though. High fever (104), breathing problems, dry cough, delirium, etc. Doc wasn't sure if it was Pneumonia, but after an xray, decided it was textbook influenza. Lasted about 6 days, with the breathing stuff and coughing only starting to clear up now.

I am usually inclined to disregard a general DO or MD, but My GF came down with the exact same thing 3 days later. Turns out that in my area, everyone seemed to be suffering with an evil flu. Doctors ofices had been packed for weeks.

If it was the flu, is that a good thing? Does it mean my immune system is working again? I took nothing but advil and "breathe easy" tea with lemon for the duration of the bad stuff. I laid in bed and watched movies. Today I was able to get out of bed without contemplating suicide for the first time in a while.
I haven't had a flu like this in almost 10 years. I can't remember the last time I got a cold.

I have a lot of questions about my current infections, which are still most definitely there, but I wanted to direct this post to the question of whether or not getting the flu and beating it spells good things for my recovery.

I've been off all Antibiotics since October. After which I did Dr. K's full parasite protocol, and then Salt-C, which I am currently ramped up to 7 grams/day.

You were lucky. Sounds like flu to me.

Your system fought it on it's own and thats a positive at least.

My husband is starting to get sick. Hope its not serious.

Lucky in the sense that...? Could you elaborate?

Wow!

Well I can't speak from a technical or medical viewpoint.

But if I managed to get a fever of 104 I would be announcing it on the radio and flying a banner from a cesna.

[Big Grin]

My immune system can't mount an offense higher than 38 degrees C, which is about 100 degrees F. Pretty worn down.

And 7 grams each of salt/C is great! Good for you!

I wish I had one of those noise makers one blows at New years.

Toot Toot!!!

98.6 is a fever to me. I often wondered what would happen if I really had a fever?

Now I know....I'd party. Only after I recovered from the flu of course.

lymeboy, just take extra good care of yourself. Try to get more sleep, rest and supps or vits. Just pamper your body so it can bounce back to pre-flu days.

Do that so this bug doesn't set you back.

Pam

Lucky in that 51 here have died from the flu. Many had no coexisting health problems.

H191 is going around (heard it's wicked).

That's good that you're doing salt/c (the C boosts immune system function, and the salt provides you with needed minerals).

lymies are the only people who can say to be happy to get fever, haha.
I got recently 102,2 F first time after 14 years.

Ok this is encouraging, thank you everyone.

Randibear, thank you for clearing that up. I guess I should definitely feel lucky that I got the flu and beat it within a few days. I really hope this spells good things for my recovery.

I have a bunch of other questions about my current symptom list and a good way forward without a doc. So you'l all be hearing from me pretty soon.
